Abstract:Three new compounds, phomanones A-C (1-3), and a known compound, 2-hydroxymethyl-3-methylcyclopent-2-enone (4), were isolated from Phoma sp. HDN16-618, a fungus derived from a sea water sample collected from Mariana Trench. Their structures, including absolute configurations, were elucidated by extensive Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Mass Spectrometry (MS), and electronic circular dichroism analyses. None of the compounds showed significant cytotoxic activity against a panel of cancer cell lines.
“…Phomanones B (13) and 14 were reported from Phoma sp. but were inactive toward K562, HL-60, HCT-116, BEL-7402, A549, HeLa, L-02, SH-SY5Y, HO8910, PC-3, U87, MGC-803, and MDA-MB-231 cancer cells (Lu et al 2019).…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
