Nowadays, we are living in the era of technology and innovation that impact various fields, including sciences. In computing and technology, many outstanding and attractive programs and applications have emerged, including programs that try to mimic the human behavior. A chatbot is an example of the artificial intelligence-based computer programs that try to simulate the human behavior by conducting a conversation and an interaction with the users using natural language. Over the years, various chatbots have been developed for many languages (such as English, Spanish, and French) to serve many fields (such as entertainment, medicine, education, and commerce). Unfortunately, Arabic chatbots are rare. To our knowledge, there is no previous work on developing a chatbot for the Saudi Arabic dialect. In this study, we have developed "Nabiha," a chatbot that can support conversation with Information Technology (IT) students at King Saud University using the Saudi Arabic dialect. Therefore, Nabiha will be the first Saudi chatbot that uses the Saudi dialect. To facilitate access to Nabiha, we have made it available on different platforms: Android, Twitter, and Web. When a student wants to talk with Nabiha, she can download an application, talk with her on Twitter, or visit her website. Nabiha was tested by the students of the IT department, and the results were somewhat satisfactory, considering the difficulty of the Arabic language in general and the Saudi dialect in particular.

Chatbots are one of the most widely used technologies to implement virtual assistance. Presently, chatbot based virtual assistants are being used by many web administrators to mediate access to data and to carry out generic conversations with the users. Such virtual assistants are getting a lot of attention from the business organizations, as it can help in improving customer care support; reduce the costs in customer service centers and can handle multiple clients at a time. Big data analytics is the process of collecting, organizing and analysing large data sets to discover patterns and unknown correlations hidden in the data, such as usage statistics and customer preferences, which can serve as valuable business information. This paper describes the implementation of a chatbot framework with an interface to big data. This implementation would provide mass knowledge analysis capability to chatbots from distributed environments, which can further the spectrum of usage of such intelligent agents.

The aim of this paper is to outline the design of a chatbot to be used within mental health counselling. One of the main causes of the burden of disease worldwide is mental health problems. Mental health contributes to 28% of the total burden of disease, compared to 16% each for cancer and heart disease in the UK. Stress, anxiety or depression accounted for 15.8 million days of sickness absence across the UK in 2016. By 2020, the gap between the demand for mental health care and the resources the National Health Service (NHS) can provide is likely to widen, therefore providers are increasingly needing to find more cost-effective ways to deliver mental health care. Digital Interventions have been created to help with these issues, for example anxiety, stress and depression. Chatbots can be incorporated into digital interventions, or used as standalone interventions. Chatbots can be a more interactive experience for the user to receive information, or complete diagnostic tools, or to even be used for counselling. A demo chatbot was created using interactive emoji's and GIFs to improve the user experience when searching for online self-help tips. This chatbot will be further developed and incorporated into a full web based programme for mental health in the workplace. It is envisaged that the chatbot will be able to provide initial counselling, and lead users into the correct services or self-help information.
