“…18 F-FDG has also been used to nonspecifically image sites of viral infection or inflammation, because its detection can be proportional to the glycolytic activity of the cells that trap it (24)(25)(26). In this preclinical study, we demonstrate the efficacy of 18 F-FDG-based PET combined with CT imaging ( 18 F-FDG-PET/CT) as a noninvasive imaging strategy for the sensitive detection of inflammatory disease foci in dengue-infected mice and for monitoring disease amelioration in response to treatment.…”

“…In preliminary studies, 18 F-FDG PET has shown promising results for the assessment of inflammation in adult and pediatric patients with IBD (11,12). However, because of the limited knowledge regarding its implication for treatment decisions, the method is not routinely used for determining disease activity.…”

“…Moreover good correlations between PET measures and endoscopic and histo-pathological reference standards have been shown [10][11][12]33 . However, no studies to date examined the utility of FDG-PET to monitor longitudinal changes in bowel inflammation in CD has only been examined in a small study of three patients 13 .…”

“…9/13 patients who completed PET scanning both at baseline and a median [range] of 12 [11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18] weeks after initiation of anti-TNF treatment had favourable clinical responses 27 (median [range] responder ΔHBI = 5 [3][4][5][6][7][8][9]; non-responder ΔHBI = 1[-1-2]), (Table 1). …”
