Purpose This paper aims to identify health-care entitlements that exist for asylum seekers with chronic non-communicable disease (CNCD) that promote their health and self-care, and to explore health policies, initiatives and programmes with the potential to foster self-care in this populace. Design/methodology/approach Narrative review of literature conducted by searching EMBASE, CINAHL, WEB OF SCIENCE and PSYCINFO databases for articles published from 2010 to 2021. Included articles focussed on policies, programmes or initiatives with the potential to promote health in adult asylum seekers residing in high-income countries. Studies inclusive of other migrant groups such as undocumented migrants and those with mental health conditions were excluded. Eleven studies fitting the inclusion criteria were assessed against the study objectives. Findings Free access to health-care services and pharmaceutical products, free access to food banks and supermarket model food banks, English and cooking lessons, community integration training sessions and culturally competent health-care workers were found to promote health and self-care. There is little research on self-care and health promotion in adult asylum seekers with CNCD. CNCDs represent high burden of disease in asylum seekers but have a low priority in reported research. Originality/value This narrative review is the first to explicitly focus on asylum seekers in high-income countries with CNCD, excluding mental health conditions, and to explore initiatives, programmes and policies that enhance health promotion to facilitate self-care in this populace.

“…Our article focuses on the experience of health professionals and social workers making simultaneously an individual, collective and institutional commitment towards forced migrants’ complex needs in their everyday work and personal biographies. It offers a reflection on daily practices of care and responsibility in the context of care as performed by civil society volunteers and service providers, providing broad-ranging support services for migrants and other groups in vulnerable positions (Maestri and Monforte, 2020; Peterie, 2018; Phillimore, 2020; Schmid, 2019). Our data suggest that professionals at the Clinic mobilise a recognisable repertoire of ethics of care when they discuss their ongoing relationship with service users.…”

The article explores welfare and health practitioners’ representations of work practices and professional values underpinning their engagement with forced migrants within a polyfunctional health service in an Italian metropolitan city. It explores the integrated approach developed to cater for asylum seekers and beneficiaries of international protection’s specific needs. Building on interviews with health professionals and welfare workers, the article aims to critically discuss how concepts of care and responsibility are talked about and what kind of values underpin their work ethics. Humanitarian representations emerging from the narratives of health and welfare workers suggest that care and compassion are asymmetric and inherently racialised emotions and the use of vulnerability to depict service users can work to legitimise problematic practices as well as maintaining a focus on the compassionate saviours, whilst at the same time silencing people in need.

Improving the value of art information and user behavior factors can boost the effect of art communication and development. This paper proposes a social network based on the s-seir (Single SEIR) art communication and development model, a new model developed based on the SEIR (Susceptible, Exposed, Infectious, Recovered) classical epidemic dynamics model. In addition, we present the concept and characteristics of art communication, summarize the rules of node classification and art information evolution, and design an interpretative s-seir model considering the value of art information and user behavior factors. The experimental results show that the model can clearly analyze the impact of art value and user behavior on the dissemination and development of art information, and has the advantages of high efficiency and accuracy.
