Persistent circulation of Coxsackievirus A6 of genotype D3 in mainland of China between 2008 and 2015

Abstract: A total of 807 entire VP1 sequences of Coxsackievirus A6 (CV-A6) from mainland of China from 1992 to 2015, including 520 in this study and 287 from the GenBank database, were analysed to provide a basic framework of molecular epidemiological characteristics of CV-A6 in China. Sixty-five VP1 sequences including 46 representative CV-A6 isolates from 807 Chinese strains and 19 international strains from GenBank were used for describing the genotypes and sub-genotypes. The results revealed that CV-A6 strains can b… Show more

“…Phylogenetic analysis of the partial VP1 region of 28 CV‐A6 strains from Yunnan, China, and representative strains showed that they were distributed in five lineages . The Yunnan strains belonged to lineage D3 (Figure ), indicating that there were no significant differences in the genotypic distributions of the CV‐A6 strains isolated from 2012 to 2016.…”

“…Most of the CV-A6 isolates epidemic in China after 2012 belonged to the D3 sub-genotype, and clustered with the international isolates, the results revealed that D3 was the predominant sub-genotype circulated and spread in Europe and Asia during recent years. D3 sub-genotype may have strong transmission ability and virulence in the process of continuous circulating 41 , which lead to the outbreaks of HFMD in Europe, Southeast Asia and mainland of China.
