Persekusi Vesus Egaliter Lokalitas Masyarakat Sumatera Barat

Abstract

The philosophy of “Adat Basandi Syara’ and Syara Basandi Kitabullah (ABSSBK)” held firmly by West Sumatra people was affected by the persecution by a group of people. The collapse of adat (custom) as a cultural basis for the Minang people is due to the strengthening of identity politics and the poor understanding of society to the role of the media. The purpose of this research is to uncover and analyze the phenomenon of the strengthening the identity politics in the aftermath of 212 actions and its influence on the silencing freedom of speech in social media in West Sumatra. This research is a qualitative research that collect the data by interview and observation methods. The results of the research are: (1) the disappearance of deliberation tradition in reaching the agreement in West Sumatra caused by wrong opinions in the media (2) the strengthening of identity politics in Minangkabau is also caused by the perspective of the community towards geographical and its custom which are collaborated with religious values (3) the spirit of Paderi also inspired the community in the construction of the thinking of West Sumatra people.
