Abstract-The PMCT probe, saying, one kind of open-ended coaxial probe adopted widely in microwave coagulation therapy of cancer, has been used to measure the complex permittivity of freshly excised specimens of normal animal tissues. The RFM model for PMCT probe is developed to extract the anticipant permittivity of specimens under test.In addition, the effects of several factors on the measurement results have been considered and discussed, including different temperature and reference materials, as well as the sampling frequency range and intervals of the rational function model. All the experiments have been conducted at the microwave frequency range from 450 MHz to 14.5 GHz.

Elastic wave propagation in weakly nonlinear elastic rods is considered in the time domain. The method of wave splitting is employed to formulate a standard scattering problem, forming the mathematical basis for both direct and inverse problems. A quasi-linear version of the Wendroff scheme (FDTD) is used to solve the direct problem. To solve the inverse problem, an asymptotic expansion is used for the wave field; this linearizes the order equations, allowing the use of standard numerical techniques. Analysis and numerical results are presented for three model inverse problems: (i) recovery of the nonlinear parameter in the stress-strain relation for a homogeneous elastic rod, (ii) recovery of the cross-sectional area for a homogeneous elastic rod, (iii) recovery of the elastic modulus for an inhomogeneous elastic rod.

In this article, a non-iterative method for solving the transient electromagnetic inverse scattering problem for a homogeneous, dispersive bi-isotropic slab is considered. The slab is excited by a normally incident transverse pulse. The inverse scattering problem is to determine (finite time traces of) the susceptibility kernels, i.e., the four integral kernels present in the constitutive relations, given (finite time traces of) the reflection and transmission kernels, which are obtained by deconvolution of the scattered fields. Two numerical examples illustrate the method with noisy data. Finally, the imbedding equations are proved to be uniquely solvable, and the exact solution to the general propagation problem is found. This solution is given as a uniformly convergent series and supports the employed inverse algorithm.
