“…G. bethesdensis has since been cultured from at least 5 patients with CGD in the United States (15,16) and 1 in Spain (23), justifying its classification as an emerging pathogen in this primary immunodeficiency. Although the bacterial family to which G. bethesdensis belongs-the Acetobacteraceae-was previously considered nonpathogenic in humans, case reports of human infections by other members of this family are being published with increasing frequency (1,2,5,6,9,12,17,22,26,27). Common elements of infection by these other Acetobacteraceae species appear to include intravenous drug administration (for either medicinal or recreational purposes), organ transplant, or chronic medical problems requiring dialysis.…”

“…Using the extracted DNA solution as the template for PCR, about a 1,500-bp region of the 16S rRNA gene (16S rDNA) was amplified by PCR using a MicroSeq 16S rDNA Full Gene PCR Kit (Applied Biosystems Japan, Ltd.). PCR products were purified using a QuickStep TR 1 or absence of the amplified fragment and its concentration were determined by electrophoresis using an Agilent Technologies 2100 Bioanalyzer (Agilent Technologies Japan, Ltd., Tokyo). Using this PCR product as the template for the Big-Dye Terminator reaction, sequencing was performed using the MicroSeq 16S rDNA Full Gene Sequencing Kit (Applied Biosystems Japan, Ltd.).…”

“…1 Rothia dentocariosa has been linked with human disease such as endocarditis, mycotic aneurysms, osteomyelitis, septicaemia, pneumonia, and peritonitis. [2][3][4][5][6][7] Endophthalmitis has been reported in an adult following multiple surgeries. The visual outcome was poor.…”
