Periodontitis is associated to increased systemic inflammation in postmyocardial infarction patients

Abstract: ObjectivePeriodontitis has been independently associated to cardiovascular disease. However, the biological mechanisms underlying such association are still partially unknown. Thus, this study aimed to discover immunological clues accounting for the increased risk of myocardial infarction (MI) in patients having periodontitis.MethodsWe included 100 patients with a first MI, 50 with and 50 without severe periodontitis, and 100 age-matched, sex-matched and area-matched controls from the Periodontitis and Its Rel… Show more

“…Cognitive decline and dementia were proven with cerebrovascular pathology on MRI findings to be associated with symptomatic stroke including silent stroke and markers of cerebral small vessel diseases especially among subjects with atrial fibrillation as evidence in a birth cohort researched by Lira ryden et al [39]. However this research subjects did not have any known atrial fibrillation.…”

“…In contrast, patients who have already experienced an increased risk of complications and worsen the prognosis. 2,[35][36][37] GWASs have been widely used to find genetic variations that might be connected to PD and CAD/MI. In GWASs of CAD, more than 50 loci have been discovered.…”

“…TAB2 is necessary to prevent aberrant cardiac remodeling and heart failure. 2,37 Predicting hub genes using machine learning typically involves a combination of gene expression data analysis, feature selection, and the application of machine learning algorithms. Thus, predicting and identifying hub genes is crucial for the long-term monitoring and diagnosis of AMI and Periodontitis.…”
