Among the factors which affect crop productivity, there are weeds which compete for environment resources. The objective of this work was to determine the periods of interference of alexandergrass on the morphophysiology and productivity components of black beans. The experiment was conducted in a complete randomized block design with four replications. The bean cultivar of the black type used was IPR Uirapuru, being the treatments separated in two models of interference: in the coexistence group, the crop of the bean lived with the alexandergrass by growing periods of 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42 and throughout the cycledays after emergence and throughout the cycle; in the control group the crop was kept free of the infestation for the same periods described previously. At 42 DAE were evaluated the variables related to plant morphology and physiology (height of bean plants, number of trifoliate leaves, dry mass plant, number of grains pods, number od pods plants, stomatal conductance, internal CO2 concentration, photosynthetic activity, efficiency of carboxylation, efficient use of water, transpiration rate). Considering the results, it is possible to conclude that the critical period of interference prevention (CPIP) comprises 24 to 50 DAE, the period before the interference (PBI) was 24 DAE and the total period of interference prevention (TPIP) was 50 days and that the morphological and physiological variables of the plants were negatively affected in the coexistence with the alexandergrass when compared to the treatments kept free of weeds throughout the crop cycle.

Weed interference can reduce chickpea growth and, therefore, productivity depending on the period of coexistence and the nutritional status of the crop, among other factors. A study was performed over two crop years to estimate the critical period of weed interference (CPWI) during chickpea production under three doses of nitrogen (N) fertilizer topdressing (0, 50, and 75 kg N ha-1). The experiments were conducted at 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 56, 63, and 140 days after emergence (DAE) of chickpea/weed coexistence under two conditions: initially weed-free and initially weed-infested. The presence of weeds negatively affected chickpea production and reduced yields by 70% on average regardless of N rate, rendering the crop economically unfeasible. The CPWI ranged from 5 to 76 DAE and was not affected by N topdressing up to 75 kg N ha-1 in both crop years, assuming an acceptable production loss of 5%. Although the CPWI without fertilization (0 kg N ha-1) was similar to that when fertilized with 50 and 75 kg N ha-1 , the two topdressing doses increased chickpea productivity by 37% and 51%, on average, respectively.

RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a seletividade de diferentes herbicidas em duas épocas de aplicação na cultura do feijão-mungo. O estudo foi conduzido na Universidade Estadual de Goiás, Câmpus Ipameri. Os tratamentos foram dispostos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com seis tratamentos (com capina, sem capina, Fomesafen -250 g i.a ha -1 , Bentazon -600 g i.a ha -1 , Imazamox -42 g i.a ha -1 e Dicloreto de paraquat -400 g i.a ha -1 ), duas épocas de aplicação dos herbicidas (15 e 30 dias após a emergência), com quatro repetições, avaliados aos 7, 15, 21 e 28 dias após a aplicação. As características avaliadas foram altura, número de trifólios, diâmetro de plantas e massa seca da parte aérea. A aplicação do dicloreto de paraquat causou morte das plantas de feijão-mungo quando aplicado em plantas de 15 e 30 dias de emergência. O bentazon, imazamox e fomesafen reduziram o crescimento inicial quando aplicado aos 15 DAE, com posterior recuperação da cultura. O feijão-mungo possui tolerância aos herbicidas à base de bentazon, imazamox e fomesafen, quando aplicados aos 15 e 30 dias após emergência. O dicloreto de paraquat não é recomendado para uso em pós-emergência na cultura. The study was conducted at the State University of Goiás, Câmpus Ipameri. The treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with six treatments (with weeding, without weeding, Fomesafen -250 g i.a ha -1 , Bentazon -600 g i.a ha -1 , Imazamox -42 g i.a ha -1 and Paraquat dichloride -400 g i.a ha -1 ), two herbicide application times (15 and 30 days after emergence), with four replicates, evaluated at 7, 15, 21 and 28 days after application. The evaluated characteristics were height, number of tripholes, diameter of plants and dry weight of shoots. The application of the paraquat dichloride caused death of the mung bean plants when applied in plants of 15 and 30 days of emergence. Bentazon, Imazamox and Fomesafen reduced initial growth when applied to 15 DAE, with subsequent recovery of the culture. Mung beans are tolerant to herbicides based on Bentazon, Imazamox and Fomesafen when applied at 15 and 30 days after emergence.
