The use of alternative feed for Sunda pangolin in captivity is one way to cope with a shortage of feed. The aims of the research was to determine the impact of the use of alternative feed toward feed consumption and daily weight gain of pangolin in captivity. The research was conducted at Research Forest Dramaga, Bogor. The research material used by 4 individual pangolin consists of 2 males and 2 females with an average weight of 4.28 ± 0.22 kg. Research using 4x4 Latin Square Design, with 7 days of preliminary period and 14 days of data collection. The treatment applied were 4 alternative feeding i.e A= 50% kroto + 50% egg; B= 50% kroto + 50% tofu; C= 50% kroto + 20% egg + 30% tofu; D= 50% kroto + 18% egg + 26% tofu + 6% termites. The results showed that the effect of alternative feed not significantly (P<0.05) on feed consumption and body weight gain pangolin. Pangolin with treatment C consumed feed based on dry matter as much as 63.08 grams per day or 10.46% from body weight and the biggest weight gain 35.0 grams per individual per day.

Conservation status of sunda pangolin (Manis javanica , 1822) is listed as protected species. However, this Desmarest species is threatened by illegal trade. The pangolin is a scaly and toothless mammal. The main foods of this species are ants and termites. Some people believe that sunda pangolin is beneficial to the health so that trigger of very high commercial value. The research objectives were to determine the public perception on its utilization related to poaching and illegal trade and also to estimate the number of illegal trade during the period of 2002 to 2015. Snowball and purposive sampling techniques were carried out in data collecting by using questionnaire to respondents as key informants. Communities perceived that Sunda pangolin have a high economic value of wildlife that can increase people's income (40%) and can be poached if there is a chance (52%). Over the last fourteen years, as much as 319,460 of sunda pangolins were exported. To address these issues can be done through improving regulation in line with international regulations such as CITES, capacity building of rangers and investigators in related to online trading and use of electronic evidence, increasing public awareness, DNA forensics, as well as cooperation with related parties.

The distribution of a species can help guide the protection activities in their natural habitat. Conversely, the lack of information on this distribution makes the protection strategy of this species difficult. The research was conducted in Way Canguk Research Station, Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park from January until March 2018. The purposes of this research were to create a distribution prediction map of Sunda pangolin (Manis javanica) and estimating the environment variables that most influenced the probability of the distribution. Fourteen points of camera trap coordinates were used for presence data with nine types of environment variables such as elevation, slope, understorey, canopy cover, distance from roads, distance from rivers, distance from villages, food source, and distance from the threat. The result of maxent showed an Area Under the Curve (AUC) value of 0.909 categorized as very good. The highest probability of Sunda pangolin distributions was in the Pemerihan Resort and Way Haru Resort area, while the dominant environmental variables included the distance from the village, the canopy cover, and the distance from threat with the value 47.7; 25.85; and 15.8%, respectively. Prediction maps and environment variables can help to identify the population of Sunda pangolin in the wild and can provide input for the national parks to prioritize protection areas for Sunda pangolin from the increased poaching.
