Contextualização: Os últimos anos foram testemunhas de uma crescente convocação para estudos que articulam a abordagem da história no contexto dos estudos organizacionais. Essas propostas iluminaram as potencialidades da pesquisa histórica ao apresentar diferentes contribuições metodológicas para se entender os fenômenos organizacionais, destacando a experiência das pessoas, da sociedade e das organizações. Objetivo: Considerando a abordagem da história nos estudos organizacionais, este trabalho se propõe apresentar alguns itinerários metodológicos segundo Michel de Certeau presentes nas obras “A Escrita da História” (Certeau, 2011) e a “A Invenção do Cotidiano: 1- Artes de Fazer” (Certeau, 2012). Método: Foi realizado uma discussão de cunho teórico. Inicialmente apresentamos um panorama de estudos, enfocando questões propriamente sobre métodos da pesquisa histórica na administração e nos estudos organizacionais. Em seguida, se apresentaram algumas ideias propostas na obra “A Escrita da História” (Certeau, 2011) que se basearam em conceitos sobre “As Produções do Lugar” que tratam itinerários metodológicos relacionados ao “Fazer História” e “A Operação Historiográfica”. Além disso foi considerado o conceito de “Práticas de Espaço” proposto na obra “A Invenção do Cotidiano: 1- Artes de Fazer” (Certeau, 2012) que delineiam os itinerários metodológicos relacionados “As Caminhadas pela Cidade” e os “Relatos de Espaço”. Resultados: Como resultado se enfatizam as contribuições metodológicas para pesquisadores no que se refere ao desenvolvimento de pesquisas documentais que refletem as “lições da história” a partir de “unidades de compreensão” em uma malha de práticas espaço-temporal no delinear da pesquisa. Conclusões: Evidenciam-se, por fim, algumas oportunidades de se ampliar as possibilidades de pesquisas historiográficas nos estudos organizacionais considerando o uso da abordagem de Michel de Certeau, segundo uma lógica histórica temporal da organização de espaços relatada pelas memórias dos caminhantes de cidades.

“…ANTi-History has been applied in gender research (Hartt et al , 2012, 2017; Mills and Helms Mills, 2018; Bettin and Mills, 2018; Luna, 2022), postcolonial research (Secord and Corrigan, 2017; Kivijärvi et al , 2019), micro-history (Humphreys and Haden, 2020; Mills, 2017; Novicevic et al , 2019; Deal, 2022), controversy (Tureta et al , 2021; Mills et al , 2022; Novicevic and Mills, 2019) and socio-materiality (Moura and Bispo, 2020). ANTi-History has been taken up by scholars internationally (Pfefferman, 2016; Quelha de Sá and Costa, 2019; Stutz, 2020; Bezerra and Ipiranga, 2021; Tureta et al , 2021), possibly because of its capacity to problematize and go beyond Western thought. The strange potential of ANTi-History: a reply to Reveley

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a reflexive review of ANTi-History written as a reply to a critique by James Reveley, published in the Journal of Management History, called “Firm objects: new realist insights into the sociohistorical ontology of the business enterprise.” Design/methodology/approach Reveley’s critique of ANTi-History focuses on three aspects, namely, matters of ontology, actors and relationalism. Using the logic of ANTi-History, the author reviews each and offers a reply. Findings This paper demonstrates that ANTi-History is inspired by amodern thought. This condition negates the need and desire to classify social and physical objects in the study of history. Drawing on Actor-Network Theory, ANTi-History assumes that historical actors are heterogeneous, and the consequence is that both human and nonhuman actors should feature in the study of history. The focus, in using ANTi-History, should be in-between the human and nonhuman actors that make up the past and history. This is the premise of using a relational lens. Originality/value The review of ANTi-History is structured as a reply to critiques of the approach. In reflecting on these criticisms, the author realizes that ANTi-History has gotten beyond its originators. As one of those originators, the author inspired to continue to develop its strange potential.
