“…Several AOPs have been tested for DCF removal from water/ wastewater including photolysis and UV/H 2 O 2 process [6][7], homogeneous Fenton/photo-Fenton oxidation [2,5], heterogeneous catalytic oxidation with H 2 O 2 [9], etc. However, among the various advanced oxidation technologies proposed for the degradation of DCF the heterogeneous Fenton-based process with goethite catalyst has not yet been investigated.…”

“…Sang et al [39] determined that a UV pilot-scale treatment applied after RO and NF processes did not contribute significantly to microcontaminant removal. Another bench-scale UV/H 2 O 2 process study performed by Kim et al [65] showed that 90% removal efficiency was reached in 39 of the 42 PhACs found in a WWTP secondary effluent. The UV dose (254 nm) was 923 mJ/cm 2 , and the contact time and H 2 O 2 concentration were 5 min and 7.8 mg/L, respectively.…”

“…These include activated carbon (Ternes et al, 2002;Snyder et al, 2007), ozonation (Rosal et al, 2010) (Klavarioti et al, 2009;Liu et al, 2009), chlorine dioxide oxidation (Huber et al, 2005), membrane technologies (Yoon et al, 2006;Snyder et al, 2007), and membrane bioreactors (Kimura et al, 2005;Quintana et al, 2005;Shariati et al, 2010). As an example the anti-inflammatory drug diclofenac has consistently shown to be well photodegraded under UV treatment (Andreozzi et al, 2003;Zhang et al, 2008;Kim et al, 2009). This substance also gets well mineralized under ozonation (Rosal et al, 2010) and chlorine disinfection (Kosma et al, 2010).…”
