The free convective hybrid nanofluid (Fe3O4+MWCNT/H2O) magnetized non-Darcy flow over a porous cylinder is examined by considering the effects constant heat source and uniform ambient magnetic field. The developed coupled PDEs (partial differential equations) are numerically solved using the innovative computational technique of control volume finite element method (CVFEM). The impact of increasing strength of medium porousness and Lorentz forces on the hybrid nanofluid flow are presented through contour plots. The variation of the average Nusselt number (Nuave) with the growing medium porosity, buoyancy forces, radiation parameter, and the magnetic field strength is presented through 3-D plots. It is concluded that the enhancing medium porosity, buoyancy forces and radiation parameter augmented the free convective thermal energy flow. The rising magnetic field rises the temperature of the inner wall more drastically at a smaller Darcy number. An analytical expression for Nusselt number (Nuave) is obtained which shows its functional dependence on the pertinent physical parameters. The augmenting Lorentz forces due to the higher estimations of Hartmann retard the hybrid nanoliquid flow and hence enhance the conduction.

In the past decades, desiccant cooling systems have received much attention. These systems are considered as an alternative way to decrease energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission in humid and hot locations. To address the importance of desiccant air-conditioning systems, the present research aims to provide an overview of recent studies on the development of desiccant air conditioning system. Another objective is to consider the numerical and theoretical analysis of desiccant systems. Moreover, for the first time, a summary of recent researches regarding the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technique for numerical modeling of desiccant cooling systems has been especially reviewed in detail. Finally, in the present review, the principle of regeneration of liquid desiccant using solar energy have also been considered briefly.

The magnetohydrodynamic hybrid second-grade nanofluid flow towards a stretching/shrinking sheet with thermal radiation is inspected in current work. Main concern of current investigation is to consider hybrid $$Al_{2} O_{3} - Cu$$ A l 2 O 3 - C u nanofluid which is perceived by hanging two dissimilar kinds of nanoparticles known as alumina and copper within the base fluid. The fluid motion is produced by non-linear stretching/shrinking sheet. The modeled equations which comprise of energy, motion and continuity equations are changed into dimensionless form using group of similar variables. To determine the solution of transformed problem, the Homotopy Analysis technique is used. The findings of this work revealed that the magnetic parameter improves the heat transfer rate. This work also ensures that there are non-unique solutions of modeled problem for shrinking case and a unique solution for stretching case. Higher values of $${\text{Re}}_{x}$$ Re x results in declining of flow field. Rise in $$M$$ M agrees to a decline in velocity distributions. Higher values of second order fluid parameter reduces the viscosity of fluid and accordingly velocity increases. Velocity profile is also a decreasing function of volume friction.
