“…SCND is a well-known problem in supply chain management (Eskandarpour et al, 2017), where the aim is to improve the flow of products between SC echelons (Badri et al, 2013). Several studies have addressed SCND considering different issues, such as product characteristics (Coelho & Laporte, 2014), number of echelons (Srivathsan & Kamath, 2017), network flows (Ivanov et al, 2017), transport (Cui et al, 2016), technologies (Fard et al, 2017), and characteristics of facilities (Shafiee et al, 2014). In the case of the tilapia fillet SCND, some features considered should include: (a) four echelons in the SC, these being suppliers, fish farms, slaughterhouses and demand points; (b) organic waste should be recycled in a waste processing industry; (c) forward flows start from suppliers to demand points, and reverse flow from the slaughter processing industry to waste processors.…”
