Performance evaluation of immunoassay for infectious diseases on the Alinity i system

Abstract: Diagnosis of infectious disease is necessary for the timely treatment of patients, screening of asymptomatic individuals, surveillance, and epidemiological investigation. 1 The diagnostic tests for these infectious diseases detect the presence of the pathogens themselves, antigens, or antibodies against them. The test results should be appropriately evaluated to determine whether these tests are accurate

“…Anti-CMV IgG were detected using the Abbott Architect CMV IgG chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) [ 21 , 22 ]. The assay uses a human CMV lysate (strain AD 169) and is performed on the automated platform Abbott Architect i2000SR (Abbott, Abbott Park, IL, United States).…”

“…The cutoff values for IgG or IgM detection recommended by the manufacturers were used to interpret the results (Table 1). For easier understanding, since several studies, including local ones (data not shown), have asserted an equivalence between AxSYM and Architect Toxo assays on the one hand (14,15) and between Architect and Alinity Toxo assays on the other hand (16); these assays were renamed Abbott Toxo IgG and IgM assays. All immunoassays reported the test results in IU/mL for IgG and index for IgM.…”

“…Three investigators reviewed the results, and any samples that were positive for either IgG or IgM against T . gondii were retested and confirmed with the ARCHITECT i2000SR system (Abbott, Abbott Park, Illinois, U.S.A.) in accordance with the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) [ 25 ].…”

“…A negative result was indicated by "IgG-IgM-", a positive IgG but negative IgM antibody result was indicated by "IgG+IgM-", a positive IgM but negative IgG antibody result was indicated by "IgG-IgM+", and a positive result for both IgG and IgM antibodies was indicated by "IgG+IgM+" (as shown in Fig 1). Three investigators reviewed the results, and any samples that were positive for either IgG or IgM against T. gondii were retested and confirmed with the ARCHITECT i2000SR system (Abbott, Abbott Park, Illinois, U.S.A.) in accordance with the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) [25].…”
