Performance Evaluation of DYMO, AODV and DSR Routing Protocols in MANET

Abstract: An Ad Hoc network has no infrastructure and it provides flexibility to network's nodes to connect and disconnect at any time. A MANET is an Ad Hoc network that provides freedom of movement to the network's nodes. In a MANET, The development of routing protocols is one of the main challenges and much research has been done to evaluate the current protocols to improve them or to develop new protocols. There are several protocols that have been tested in the past and each protocol has its advantages and disadvant… Show more

“…Additionally, some data were collected through desktop data collection models. According to previous studies [10], [11], a vast amount of information has been archived over the months, and it is therefore practical to utilize existing data and information to carry out secondary research. Previous researchers [3], [12] argued that secondary data analysis involves analysis and interpretation of data collected by another researcher for another purpose.…”

“…Previous researchers [3], [12] argued that secondary data analysis involves analysis and interpretation of data collected by another researcher for another purpose. This is a viable research method that is less costly and saves the time spent going to the field for data collection [11], [13]. Appropriate secondary sources for review included publications, journal articles, books, periodicals, databases, and health sectors report as well as government policy documents and reports.…”

“…Table 1 summaries the existing work with their limitations. Previous work evaluated the performance using limited number of routing protocols, notably [24,27] and the author did not consider partial droppers in the evaluation and some even did not consider these attacks in the evaluation at all, for example [28,29]. The work in [30] examines the impact of packet dropping behavior on three routing protocols DSDV [4], DSR [7], and AODV [6] using metrics, i.e.…”

“…It may be possible that a node loses connectivity due to some reason. The next hop nodes will notify all the nodes by sending RERR messages, to keep the information updated [5]. Due to this reactive approach, AODV was used as routing protocol in this study.…”
