Performance analysis of Beaulieu‐Xie fading channel with MRC diversity reception

Abstract: In this work, the performance of communication system inside the densely packed small cells or femtocells with maximum ratio combining (MRC) diversity is studied. The line of sight (LOS) and the diffused power components inside the femtocells are modeled in the form of Beaulieu‐Xie fading channel and the performance metrics have been derived. The closed‐form expressions for outage probability (Pout), amount of fading (AF), and average symbol error probability (ASEP) for coherent and non‐coherent modulation sch… Show more

“…Sobabe et al 53 has considered leading eigenvector, maximum and minimum eigenvalues as a feature vector for implementing the unsupervised ML algorithm. To obtain the eigenvalues of the covariance matrix of the received signal can be determined from Equation (5). Let us consider eigenvalues of the covariance matrix 𝜆 max > 𝜆 2 > 𝜆 3 > 𝜆 4 > 𝜆 min , where 𝜆 max be the maximum eigenvalue and 𝜆 min minimum eigenvalue.…”

“…3 The CR devices opportunistically utilize the spectrum allocated to primary user (PU) when PU is detected idle by it. Due to shadowing 4,5 and multi-path fading, 6 the quality of the PU signal received at the secondary user (SU) is degraded, leading to wrong sensing decisions about the presence/absence of PU. In certain situations, due to the geographical constraint, the SU cannot receive the signal of the PU, which is known as the hidden node problem.…”

“…In this, authors have also presented the comparison of ASC for various fading channel considering as special cases of α‐η‐κ‐μ. The B‐X fading distribution 113 is composed of multiple numbers of LOS components with some diffused power, PLS performance over B‐X faded main and wiretap channel is explained in Reference 114.…”

“…The classical Beaulieu-Xie model (proposed in [1]) presented a propagation scenario with multiple specular components, which is of primary importance for THz and FSO communication. It was numerously used to analyze the wireless channel effective capacity [2], its second-order statistics (e.g., level crossing rate and average fade duration) [3] and joint envelope-phase statistics [4], communication error rate for DPSK/MFSK/MPSK/MQAM modulations [5]- [7]; diversity combining schemes were studied in [8] for the MRC receiver and in [9] for the switch-and-stay receiver; the physical layer security (PLS) issues were analyzed in [10] and in [11] PLS with NOMA communication and I/Q imbalance was studied.…”
