The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected the provision of care for patients with chronic diseases. Due to social restrictions and reductions in contact with health services, the negative perception of chronic disease is expected to have increased. The aim of this study was to determine the association between perceived access to healthcare and the perception of illness among Peruvian population with chronic disease. It was a cross-sectional analytical study, with a sample of 987 inhabitants to whom the questionnaires “Coverage of health services” and “The Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire” (BIPQ) were applied. Having health insurance (PRa = 0.683; 95% CI = 0.613-0.761) acts as a protective factor for a positive illness perception of chronic disease, however, a waiting time greater than 3 months to obtain a medical appointment (PRa = 1.417; 95% CI = 1.319-1.522) and poor access to health services (PRa = 1.435; 95% CI = 1.226-1.681) resulted in the probability of a negative illness perception of chronic disease. Thus, there is an association between perceived poor access to healthcare and the negative illness perception of chronic disease in Peruvian population during pandemic COVID-19.

High blood pressure (HBP) is a silent disease with an extremely high prevalence worldwide. It is considered the leading risk factor for cardiovascular (CVD) and neurovascular disorders. The etiology of hypertension is based on various genetic, environmental, and social factors. Currently, compelling evidence points to the link between HBP and certain psycho-emotional factors, such as mental stability, happiness, general well-being, and fulfillment, all consistently associated with better physical and psychological health.

Introduction: Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) are the main cause of morbidity and mortality in developed and developing countries. According to World Health Organization estimates, 17.9 million people died of CVD in 2016, representing 31% of all global deaths. Material and Method: Integrative review carried out in the databases PubMed, SciELO, Lilacs and PEDro, based on the guiding question of the search: “what is the effect of respiratory techniques on the lung function of patients undergoing cardiac surgery?”, And crossing of the terms: breathing exercises AND preoperative AND cardiac surgery (all terms present in MEsh and DeCs) from May to June 2020. Results: 104 articles were found in the selected databases, 67 articles were excluded, 37 were selected for full reading, eight of which were part of this review. Discussion: The present integrative review aimed to analyze the effects of respiratory techniques on lung function in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Patients undergoing a cardiac surgical procedure, mainly develop postoperative pulmonary dysfunction with significant reduction in lung volumes, impaired respiratory function, decreased lung compliance and increased respiratory work. Final Considerations: Respiratory techniques such as breathing exercises and / or respiratory muscle training employed in patients undergoing a cardiac surgical procedure, improve lung function, consequently improving respiratory muscle strength as a whole, also interfering in the reduction of post-respiratory complications. CRM in this population.Keywords: Cardiac surgery; Breathing Exercises; Preoperative.
