Perbandingan Sifat Antioksidan Propolis pada Dua Jenis Lebah (Apis mellifera dan Trigona sp.) di Mojokerto dan Batu, Jawa Timur, Indonesia

Abstract: The current study provided a comparison the antioxidant activity, total phenolic and total flavonoid contents of propolis in two different types of honey bees and location. The material used for this research were propolis which was produced by different honey bees, namely Apis mellifera and Trigona sp in different location from Batu and Mojokerto. The method used was descriptive analysis. Findings suggested the maximum and minimum of antioxidant activity were obtained by propolis Trigona sp. from Mojokerto (9… Show more

“…In the present study, with the basic ingredient of pure propolis extract, the specimens were not heated to more than 37ºC due to the nature of propolis itself which melts at temperatures above 40ºC. 4 The sorption value of propolis extract, both immersion in water and artificial saliva shows a high value, it shows that the propolis extract has not met the criteria as a pulpcapping material in terms of its physical properties, namely water sorption. The sorption value of the pulp protection agents currently used is between 2,15% and 8,57% of the material initial weight.…”

“…1,2 Propolis is one of the biological ingredients of traditional medicine that has been known since ancient times and it was used as an antiseptic to heal wounds and as a mouthwash in medieval times among Arabian doctors. 3,4 The pharmacological active molecules in propolis are organic volatile components, flavonoids, phenolic acids and other ester groups, phenol aldehydes, alcohols, ketones, quinones, coumarins, steroids and amino acids. These components can provide pharmacological activity.…”

“…This high percentage of terpenoid compounds may indicate the extent to which the vegetations growing in this area are producing groups of terpenoid compounds as their secondary metabolites. The differences in plant metabolites may affect the composition of the bioactive compounds found in the propolis [6]. The percentage of the phenolic compounds was 20.47%, this large portion of phenolic compounds could be due to the large constituent of chemicals in plants produced as natural antioxidants [7,8].…”

“…Another factor may be the differences of environmental fields available for the foraging bees that trigger an adaptation response of the plants to their environmental condition by producing different compositions of bioactive compounds. This adaptation in turn influences the chemical composition found in the propolis of the foraging bees living in the same habitat [6]. Figure 1 shows the chromatogram profile resulting from the GC analysis.…”

“…Menurut (Rosyidi et al, 2018), propolis lebah jenis Apis sp. memiliki senyawa-senyawa kimia yang sangat banyak dan berbeda-beda tergantung dari lingkungan di sekitar peternakan lebahnya sehingga terdapat perbedaan senyawa pada propolis yang ada di Indonesia dengan propolis yang berada di negara lainnya.…”
