Peptide-Grafted Microspheres for Mesenchymal Stem Cell Sorting and Expansion by Selective Adhesion

Abstract: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have considerable value in regenerative medicine because of their unique properties such as pluripotency, self-renewal ability, and low immunogenicity. Isolation and purification are prerequisites for various biomedical applications of MSCs, and traditional sorting methods are often expensive, complicated, and difficult to apply on a large scale. In addition to purification, the requirement for expansion of cells also limits the further application of MSCs. The purpose of this stu… Show more

“…201 Another magnetic microsphere was developed to obtain relatively pure mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in an economical and effective way. 210 There have been both primary and adult stem cells expanded on microspheres in laboratory-scale setups including MSCs, hBMSCs, and human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUMSCs). 206,208,211 For example, BMSCs could be expanded on agarose or gelatin-based microspheres and the osteogenic and chondrogenic differentiation potential was enhanced compared with a 2D monolayer culture system.…”

“…After stirring using a magnetic stirrer for 12 h, the blended HA/PLGA/chloroform mixture was poured onto a clean circular glass slide and slowly dried using a dryer at 50℃ to obtain HA/PLGA composite lm glass slides. (9)(10)(11) Characterization of the Cu/Gd@HA nanoparticles…”
