Desa Gunung Suku, Aceh Tengah, didominasi oleh perkebunan kopi. Aceh Tengah juga terkenal dengan destinasi wisata alam berupa pegunungan dan Danau Laut Tawar. Selama ini belum ada masyarakat yang mengolah limbah kopi yang berupa daun kopi dan kulit kopi (cascara). Kondisi mitra menunjukkan bahwa masih banyak yang belum menyadari pentingnya menjaga lingkungan dari limbah dan pemanfaatan limbah, terutama sampah organik, seperti daun kopi dan kulit buah kopi. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah memberikan sosialisasi dan pelatihan mengenai pemanfaatan limbah tanaman kopi menjadi teh daun kopi dan teh cascara. Ke depannya produk ini dapat digunakan sebagai kuliner khas Gayo. Produk teh ini dapat dinikmati saat mengunjungi daerah wisata di Takengon atau sebagai oleh-oleh khas Gayo, Takengon. Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini dilakukan pada 2 Desember 2022 di halaman Kantor Reje Gunung Suku. Terdapat sepuluh ibu rumah tangga yang hadir pada hari pelaksanaan. Metode yang dilakukan adalah penyuluhan tentang sosialisasi pemanfaatan limbah organik dan demonstrasi pengolahan limbah organik daun teh dan kulit buah kopi menjadi teh. Sementara itu, tahapan pelaksanaan pada hari pelaksanaan adalah pre test, penyuluhan, dan sosialisasi berupa ceramah, demonstrasi pengolahan daun kopi dan kulit kopi menjadi teh, sesi tanya-jawab, uji rasa pada produk yang dihasilkan, dan post test. Hasil pre test dan post test mitra tentang teh daun kopi dan teh cascara mengalami peningkatan yang sama, yaitu 45%. Evaluasi pelaksanaan, pernyataan pemberian materi dari narasumber, dan manfaat pelatihan yang dilakukan dinila sangat setuju, mencapai 100%.

Indonesia's coffee production will reach 774.6 thousand tons in 2021, an increase of 2.75% from 2020, which was 753.9 thousand tons, and is the highest in the last decade and is expected to increase threefold in 2050. Hence, the evaluating environmental performance of the coffee agroindustry is essential if it is to become a more sustainable agroindustry. This paper aims to assess environmental performance (energy footprint, water footprint, and carbon footprint) in Gayo Arabica coffee green bean production with different agro-industry models. The method to evaluate environmental performance that can be used to identify indications of sustainability is Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Method. The study was conducted on coffee production and exporter cooperatives in Central Aceh. Primary data were obtained through interviews with farmers, collectors, huller owners, and cooperative administrators. Secondary data comes from cooperative reports. The LCA study is described in two product systems, the model of 2015 and the model of 2016. The LCA model of 2015 is based on the green bean production system carried out in 2015 which includes water treatment, pulping, collecting, drying, hulling, finishing, and transportation. The LCA model of 2016 is based on the green bean production system carried out in 2016 until now which includes sub-processes for water treatment, pulping, collecting 1, hulling, collecting 2, finishing, and transportation. The results show that the energy footprint of the 2016 model (2.5128 MJ per f.u) is greater than that of the 2015 model (1.2336 MJ per f.u), the water footprint of the 2015 model is the same as the water footprint of the 2016 model product system, namely 0. 0086 m3 per f.u., and the carbon footprint of the 2016 model (1.93 kg CO2-eq per f.u) is greater than that of the 2015 model (1.48 kg CO2-eq per f.u). The cooperative initiative (in the model of 2016) is for the purpose of process improvement but cannot reduce carbon emissions. To reduce emissions from the use of fossil fuels, it is necessary to optimize land transportation routes and energy efficiency.

Communication strategy of the Bener Meriah Regency Government in the marketing of Gayo coffee. The problems of this study are; how the communication strategy of the Bener Meriah Regency Government in marketing Gayo coffee, how the obstacles of the Bener Meriah Regency government in marketing Gayo coffee, how the credibility of communicators in marketing Gayo coffee, and local community empowerment in gayo coffee marketing. The research method in this study uses qualitative research approach, using observation, interview and point documentation techniques. In this study, the authors use the theory of communicator credibility. The results of this study are the communication strategy of the Bener Meriah Regency government in marketing Gayo coffee using the methods; marketing communication strategy through advertising in exhibitions and events, through foreign trade missions by ministries, and promotions through digital processes and social media. The credibility of the communicator in marketing Gayo coffee is good enough to increase sales, so that Gayo coffee can be well-known to foreign countries. The government’s effort to appreciate marketing communicators have also been quite good, so that communicators are more enthusiastic and creative. Barriers to the government of Bener Meriah Regency in marketing Gayo coffee are (1) Barriers to entering the industrial market, (2) Inadequate facilities and technology, (3) Barriers in regulations, especially employment, taxation and trade, (4) Lack of motivation and trade, (5) Low capital, (7) Processing and packaging technology that has not been fully mastered. The Bener Meriah Regency Government has carried out community empowerment by utilizing its natural resources, providing assistance in the form of directions, outreach, and training on Gayo coffee management.
