Technology, which has been believed to ease and maximize a learning process, has resulted in demotivation among AFL (Arabic as a Foreign Language) students with online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The current research aims to map out the forms of demotivation among AFL students, analyze the factors, and show the implications on student learning outcomes. It employs a qualitative method with a narrative approach that relies on the results of interviews with students and data from student evaluations. The finding reveals that the lack of student participation indicates demotivation among AFL students during the learning process. Four factors were affecting the downturn: infrastructure, structure, partner, and teacher. This study suggests further studies to discover ways to deal with demotivation so that they are more enthusiastic about online learning.

Guru kurang membangun kesadaran literasi pada siswa sehingga berdampak pada literasi sains dan metakognitif siswa yang rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengembangkan aktivitas pembelajaran berbantuan media Short Card terhadap literasi sains dan kemampuan metakognitif pada materi pada materi siklus air. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu pengembangan dengan model 4-D. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 48 orang siswa. Metode pengumpulan data adalah metode wawancara, studi dokumentasi, kuisioner dan tes. Instrument menggunakan kuesioner. Teknik analisis yaitu analisis deskriptif kualitatif, kuantitatif, dan statistic inferensial. Hasil penelitian yaitu validasi aktivitas adalah 4,7 dengan kualifikasi sangat baik. Berdasarkan uji manova diperoleh signitifikasi sebesar 0,000 dan lebih kecil dari 0,05, sehingga terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan literasi sains dan kemampuan metakognitif antara siswa mengikuti aktivitas pembelajaran berbantuan media pembelajaran Short Card. Disimpulkan bahwa aktivitas pembelajaran berbantuan media pembelajaran Short Card dapat meningkatkan literasi sains dan kemampuan metakognitif pada siswa.

Curriculum changes and developments occur along with the development of educational theory and technological developments. These changes aim to improve the quality of education of Indonesia's human resources. The 2013 curriculum emphasizes the learning process using a scientific approach. The purpose of this study was to analyze the scientific approach in the 2013 curriculum in the implementation of history learning. The type of research used was a qualitative approach. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Babat Toman Musi Banyuasin. In this study, data were collected using observation, interviews, and document study method. Descriptive data analysis was used in this study. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of history learning in 2013 curriculum that uses a scientific approach through the Student-Centered Learning model and authentic assessment with 5 M (observing, asking questions, collecting data, associating, communicating) maximize learning by following the 2013 curriculum development. This study as a reference material to maximize other subject in accordance with 2013 curriculum development.
