Meloidogyne spp. is responsible of root swelling, one of the primary disease in tomato plants. Controlling this nematode is challenging due to its wide host range. The use of synthetic nematicides harms the environment; therefore, alternative controls, such as biological methods, are necessary. Among the biological agents, one group includes endophytic bacteria that reside in plant tissues and do not cause harm to plants. These bacteria enhance plant resistance to pests and pathogens while promoting plant growth. The study aimed to acquire endophytes, Bacillus spp. strains capable of controlling Meloidogyne sp. while stimulating the growth of tomato plants. The research employed a completely randomized design (CRD) comprising seven treatments and five replications. The treatments consisted of B. cereus strain SNE 2.2, TLE 2.3 and TLE 1.1, B. pseudomycoides strain EPL 1.1.3, B. toyonensis strain EPL 1.1.4, positive control (without the introduction of Bacillus spp. and inoculation with Meloidogyne sp.) and negative control (without Bacillus spp. and without Meloidogyne sp.). Bacillus spp. endophyites were introduced in two stages: into the seeds and into the roots of tomato seedlings for 15 min. The observed variables were the development of Meloidogyne sp., endophytic colonization of Bacillus spp., and plant growth. The results demonstrated that all Bacillus spp. were effective in controlling Meloidogyne sp. and enhancing the growth of tomato plants. The best isolate in controlling Meloidogyne sp. and increasing the growth of tomato plants was B. cereus strain SNE2.2.

Chili (Capsicum annum) is one of the horticultural commodities that has an important role in human life and Indonesian chili plants have important economic value and occupy second place after beans. Meanwhile, in East Java, chili commodity production in 2013-2017 reached 440 tons and one of the highest contributors was Ringinsari, Kandat, Kediri. However, the increase in chili commodities in the village has so far been strongly influenced by the presence of the fungi pathogen is Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.capsici that cause wilt disease, can reduce production on average up to 75 % and cause the plant to die. The control of that pathogen generally uses chemical control that hurts humans and the environment so until now it have not been satisfactory. Depend of that it needs alternative control using endophytic bacteria that are formulated in organic fertilizer as biological control. Endophytic bacteria are group of bacteria that live in plant tissues without causing negative effects, including not causing plants to get sick and having a mutual relationship with their host plants. Endophytic bacteria can be found in various plants including agricultural crops and can be isolated from all parts of the plant, namely roots, stems, leaves, and seeds. Endophytic bacteria produce secondary metabolites and compounds that can be used to induce plant health and growth. Endophytic bacteria produce fenol, flavonoid that increase plant resistance to diseases and pests, improve plant health, phytohormones increase plant growth. The method stages of research are propagation of endophytic bacteria, manufacture of suspension of endophytic bacteria, mixing of suspension of endophytic bacteria into organic fertilizer, data analysis using analysis of variance and 5% BNT test. The results are Incubation period is slower, disease intensity decreases, and plant height increases.

Coffee is a plantation crop that has high economic value. One of the obstacles in the cultivation of coffee plants is the attack of plant parasitic nematodes, including Pratylenchus coffeae, Radopholus similis, and Meloidogyne spp. The reported nematode control technologies are the implementation of organic fertilizers, botanical pesticides, and biological agents. This study aimed to determine the effect of organic fertilizer, biofertilizer, and endophytic bacteria to control nematodes on Robusta coffee plants. The research conducted on a farmers’ coffee plantation infested by parasitic nematodes in Sidomulyo village, Lampung, Indonesia. The study used a randomized block design with 6 treatments: organic fertilizer, organic fertilizer + biofertilizer, organic fertilizer + endophytic bacteria, biofertilizer + endophytic bacteria, organic fertilizer + biofertilizer + endophytic bacteria, and control (farmer’s technology). Biofertilizers were applied together with organic fertilizers at the beginning of the rainy season, 25 g/tree and 3 kg/tree, respectively. Endophytic bacteria were applied 100 ml/tree a month after organic and biofertilizer. The observations were performed on the nematode population, growth, and production of robusta coffee. The results showed the application of organic fertilizers, biofertilizers, and endophytic bacteria could suppress the nematode population in Robusta coffee plants of 50.56-70.71%. The application of organic fertilizers, biofertilizers, and endophytic bacteria also increases the growth and productivity of Robusta coffee plants.
