The best primary nutrition for babies is breast milk. Exclusive Breastfeeding is given since the baby is born for six months. Breastfeeding proofed to reduce infant mortality and morbidity. The rate of exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia is still low at around 37.3%. The cause of the low number of breastfeeding is the lack of information obtained by the mother, affecting the mother's knowledge and belief. Breastfeeding mothers need the correct information. This information can be obtained from lactation counseling provided by health workers. This study aims to analyze the effect of counseling on knowledge, mothers' self-confidence, and breastfeeding ability in postpartum mothers. This research was conducted in July–September 2021 in the working area of the Sukaluyu Public Health Center, Cianjur regency. This research method uses a quasi-experimental design with a post-test only with a control group design—the sample in this study was 60 respondents, primigravida mothers aged 37 weeks to 1 month postpartum. The analysis used is the t-test and the Mann-Whitney test. This study uses three instruments: knowledge, self-confidence in the form of a Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale Form (BSESF) questionnaire, and a breastfeeding ability observation sheet. The study results on mothers' knowledge in the intervention group were higher, namely 26, and there was a significant difference between the knowledge of the two groups (p=0.03). There are differences in the beliefs of breastfeeding mothers after being given counseling (p=0.001). There is no difference in the mothers' ability of the two groups after counseling (p=1.000). In conclusion, lactation counseling using video media increases the knowledge and confidence of breastfeeding mothers compared to those given standard care.

This study aims to determine the effect of breastfeeding technical guidance on the knowledge, skills, and self-efficacy of breastfeeding mothers. This research is pre-experimental research with the approach used as One Group Pretest-posttest. The results showed that breastfeeding technique guidance was very influential in increasing breastfeeding knowledge, skills, and self-efficacy with a value of = 0.000 (p <0.05). In conclusion, providing education about breastfeeding techniques is effective in increasing knowledge, skills, and self-efficacy in breastfeeding. Goverment programs to reduce child mortality and improve the quality of life of children, one of which focuses on infant and child feeding programs. According to WHO and UNICEF, more than 50% of deaths of children under five are caused by malnutrition, and are caused by improper feeding practices in infants and children. The phenomenon that occurs in society that mothers who do not give exclusive breastfeeding prefer to give formula milk or additional food to babies less than six months old. The purpose of the study was to determine the process of feeding babies and children. Descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques used by in-depth interview and observation methods. The main informants are mothers who have toddlers aged 0-24 months who are registered at posyandu pustu bangsereh and triangulation informants, namely village midwives and who help care. Instruments in the form of interview guides and observation sheets. The results of this study infant and child feeding programs were given starting from the newborn enough breast milk for 6 months, followed by providing complementary foods that support optimal growth. This type of food is in the form of a family menu with its own preparations that contain adequate nutrients. In the infant and child feeding programs process, the role of mothers is very important in the stages and the infant and child feeding programs process starts from exclusive breastfeeding followed by choosing ingredients, preparing and then serving complementary foods.
