The increase in illegal Indonesian workers (TKI) every year is a polemic in itself; the opportunity to become an illegal TKI can be detrimental to the state and individual TKI because they will not get their rights and are vulnerable to problems with inappropriate labor administration. The Indonesian government must immediately resolve this problem to ensure that there are no more illegal Indonesian migrant workers coming to Malaysia. This research uses a qualitative method by collecting data through interviews, observation, and documentation from three sources on the survival of illegal migrant workers working in Malaysia. The analysis uses spatial and narrative analysis. This is a novelty in this research and direct observations in the field by the author. The research results show that the main factors for illegal migrant workers going to Malaysia are the availability of jobs, high wages, and the lure of families working there. The workers chose to be illegal because they did not have a valid visa, did not want to renew their advanced visa or a tourist visa, and switched to becoming workers in Malaysia. As for surviving as an illegal worker, the survival strategy for surviving as an illegal worker is to carry out economic, social, legal, and political survival strategies. This research is important to follow up on because many Indonesian citizens are still interested in working abroad illegally and not complying with established regulations, which can harm various parties.

This paper aims to explain the social construction of family roles in migrant workers’ income management. Many migrant worker families are unable to manage their income correctly. This social construction would affect the community by giving negative stigma to the families of migrant workers. This research was conducted using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The subjects were selected based on proportional sampling, namely people who live close to the families of migrant workers, extended families of migrant workers, and community leaders. The results of this study indicate that, in reality, some couples of migrant worker families can manage their income well, resulting in the income of migrant workers that does not have a meaningful impact on the family. The findings of this study contribute to developing a theory of social construction, where reality is the result of personal understanding, which is used as a shared understanding in the community. This shared understanding gives a new stigma to the reality of migrant worker families. The research limitation is that the data used are only obtained from subject interview data and case observations in the field, so the research findings limitedly describe the study of social construction in general. Future research that can be conducted based on this finding is investigating the effect of poor income management on the increasing migrant workers’ family disharmony.

Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) issues have long been a source of endless public interest. The manner of parenting and education of PMI children is one of the issues that the program of the Indonesian government has not addressed. This study aims to analyze the problems faced by PMI children, relating to the fulfillment of their rights to proper care and education and to formulate strategies to overcome them. This study uses a qualitative approach with primary data collection using purposive sampling method in the provinces of East Java, West Java, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara. The results showed that PMI's children's education problems could strategically be overcome by parenting and education in mutual cooperation by involving caregivers/educational actors from the informal, non-formal and formal education sectors. The government needs to continue to encourage collaboration and synergy of stakeholders involved in the care and education of PMI children from the government, private sector and community leaders/organizations. Problems that need to be addressed are also related to the provision of PMI children's data, so that they can be accessed easily in order to facilitate the planning of programs for handling PMI children's education problems.
