Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui (1) penggunaan karbon aktif dari berbagai bahan alami dalam penjernihan air dan (2) penggunaan biji kelor dalam penjernihan air, dan (3) cara menganalisis logam berat dari hasil penjernihan air. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode telaah pustaka yang sistematis, atau biasa disebut dengan Systematic Literature Review (SLR) yang dimana hasilnya menggunakan database artikel online yaitu Google Schoolar. Hasil telaah dari artikel yang berkaitan dengan topik diperoleh bahwa penggunaan karbon aktif atau arang yang terbuat dari bahan alami seperti kayu kesambi, ampas tebu, tongkol jagung, kulit buah durian dan eceng gondok sangat efektif dalam penyerapan zat terlarut air, baik organik maupun anorganik dalam menghasilkan air yang jernih. Selain itu, penggunaan biji kelor juga sangat efektif sebagai biokoagulan dan bioflokulan dalam menurunkan pH, kesadahan, kekeruhan dan total padatan tersuspensi, sehingga memungkinkan munculnya rekomendasi bahwa air hasil penjernihan dengan menggunakan karbon aktif dari berbagai bahan alami dan serbuk biji kelor dapat dijadikan air minum.

The quality of the water used by the community in Worongnge Village is poor water quality, therefore alternative solutions are needed to treat water so that the water is suitable for use. One process that can be used is the coagulation-flocculation process with Moringa seeds. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of Moringa seeds can stabilize the quality of water pH, TDS, and turbidity (turbidity) of river water in Worongnge Village. This research was conducted in the form of an experiment consisting of 5 treatments and each treatment used 1 liter of river water and each would be given 3 variations of time: (12 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours). The design is as follows: P0: 1 liter of river water without treatment P1: Provision of 1 liter of river water and 2 g of Moringa seed extract. P2: Giving 1 liter of river water and 4 grams of Moringa seed extract. P3: Giving 1 liter of river water and 6 grams of Moringa seed extract. P4: Giving 1 liter of river water and 8 grams of Moringa seed extract. The results of the research carried out found that the effective concentration of Moringa seed extract was 2gr(P1) where the results were water pH 7.2, water TDS 0.191, and turbidity (turbidity) 46. The use of Moringa oleifera seed extract as a natural coagulant is effective in reducing the turbidity of river water.

The ozonation process has been widely used as an alternative in hospital waste water treatment because of ozone as a strong oxidizing agent which is effective in degrading unsaturated pollutant bonds, as well as breaking down complex organics. Combination of Ozone, CaO, and Moringa seed (Moringa oleifera) as alternative technology has functions to reduce BOD and COD in hospital wastewater. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness application of ozone technology combined with CaO and Moringa seed. The ozonation contact time was 45 minutes, CaO concentration 4% at 3 ml/l, 2 g/l in Moringa seed, and combination of CaO and Moringa seed (v/w) of 1.5:1. This type of research is a quantitative research based pure experimental method with pretest-posttest design on a laboratory scale. Samples used by hospital Bung Karno, Surakarta, Central Java. The results showed at ozone levels of 0.058 - 0.064 g/hour combined with CaO and Moringa seed (v/w) 1.5:1 was able to produce an effective reduction BOD levels by 56.00% and the effectiveness of reducing COD levels to 63.57%. Univariate analysis showed that there was an effect on the COD and BOD parameters were significantly different with p-value < 0.05 using ozonation treatment combined with CaO:Moringa seed (v/w) 1.5:1. The mean result of COD level after treatment was 156.47 + 2.11 mg/l and BOD level after treatment was 47.42 + 1.81 mg/l.
