Peltatoside Isolated from Annona crassiflora Induces Peripheral Antinociception by Activation of the Cannabinoid System

Abstract: Peltatoside is a natural compound isolated from leaves of Mart., a plant widely used in folk medicine. This substance is an analogue of quercetin, a flavonoid extensively studied because of its diverse biological activities, including analgesic effects. Besides, a previous study suggested, by computer structure analyses, a possible quercetin-CB cannabinoid receptor interaction. Thus, the aim of this work was to assess the antinociceptive effect of peltatoside and analyze the cannabinoid system involvement in t… Show more

“…Additionally, six flavonoids were monitored on the E. coca leaf, shown in Figure 8Sa–f. The isoquercitrin molecule detected in the cationized form [C 21 H 20 O 12 + K] + , m / z 503.0444, DBE = 12, Figure 8Sa, and imaged by MALDI IMS, had a greater abundance in the inner and central parts of the leaf, with two more concentrated points in that region.…”

“…Finally, the distribution of the same six flavonoids (isoquercitrin, kaempferol, herbacetin, carlinoside, peltatoside, and rutin) previously studied on the leaf surface was evaluated in the inner region of the tissue by LDI(+) IMS, Figure 8Sa–f. All six flavonoids cited in this study have biological activities reported by other authors in the literature. In Figure 11Sa–f, the images obtained show similarity in the region with the most abundant detection of the flavonoids, highlighting a greater abundance of peltatoside than the other flavonoids, Figure 11Se. Moreover, this flavonoid, also detected in other natural products, is an analog of quercetin, which has pharmacological effects, including analgesic activity.…”

“…Phenolic compounds, including 6-hydroxyluteolin 7-O-laminaribioside of the medicinal plant Globularia alypum , exhibits antioxidant and antimicrobial activities [ 26 ]. Peltatoside isolated from Annona crassilora , used in folk medicine, is known to inhibit acute local inflammation and demonstrate analgesic activity [ 27 , 28 ]. Kaempferitrin from many plants shows antimicrobial, antitumor, and antioxidant activities [ 29 , 30 , 31 ].…”
