Pedobacter montanisoli sp. nov., isolated from soil

Abstract: A white-pigmented, non-motile, Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped bacterium, designated CYS-01T, was obtained from soil sampled at Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea. Cells were strictly aerobic, grew optimally at 28 °C. Phylogenetic analysis based on its 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that strain CYS-01T formed a lineage within the family Sphingobacteriaceae and clustered with members of the genus … Show more

“…The quinones were eluted using a mobile phase comprising a methanol-isopropyl ether solution (3 : 1, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.7 ml min −1 [30]. Menaquinone-7 (MK-7) was identified as the major respiratory quinone of ELA7 T , which is typical of the genus Pedobacter [2][3][4]. Strain ELA7 T and the reference type species (P. ginsengisoli Gsoil 104 T and P. frigoris RP-3-15 T ) were cultured under identical conditions (22 °C for 24 h) to examine the fatty acid methyl ester profiles during exponential growth.…”

“…The genus Pedobacter is a Gram-stain-negative bacteria classified under the family Sphingobacteriaceae within the phylum Bacteroidota. Members of the genus Pedobacter exhibit aerobic characteristics, positive catalase and oxidase production, and display diverse colony colours such as white, yellow, orange, and pink [2][3][4][5][6]. At the time of writing, the genus Pedobacter consists of 110 species with validly published names, as documented in the List of Prokaryotic names with Standing in Nomenclature (LPSN) taxonomy browser database (https://lpsn.dsmz.de/genus/pedobacter).…”
