PD behaviour of basic test arrangements under different measurement conditions

Abstract: The PD behaviour of so-called basic test arrangements as for corona discharge or other discharge sources seems to be well known from the physical point of view. On the other hand the measurement results and, in the same manner, their identification and interpretation can be different, because this is depending on the measurement or evaluation conditions. Therefore some typical basic arrangements representing corona discharges as needle-plane, needle-plane with insulating sheet and needle -sphere as well as art… Show more

“…PD events were characterised by the magnitude and time of occurrence and some classification techniques were explored. The majority of work conducted to date has been focused on the analyses and evaluation of PD from controlled samples under AC conditions [2][3][4][5][6]. PD under AC conditions is well understood and is a developed measurement and post analysis process applied to AC equipment.…”

“…The time lag of the initiatory electron, the probability of avalanche formation, and the effect of space charge stabilization are involved. Although some studies and the reports of International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE) workgroups [15][16][17] have summarized the availabilities of different types of voltages for examining the insulation status, the effectiveness of these voltages has not been quantitatively investigated through experiments.…”
