PbS nanopowder – synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activity

Abstract: Lead sulphide (PbS) nanopowder was synthesized by a simple soft chemical route using lead nitrate and thiourea as precursor salts. The as-synthesized nanopowder was characterized by XRD, SEM, EDX, FT-IR, PL, Raman and magnetic measurements. XRD studies reveal the polycrystalline nature of the powder. The powder exhibits face-centered cubic structure with a strong (2 0 0) preferential orientation. The presence of Pb and S in the powder is confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray analysis. The peaks observed at 1112… Show more

“…6A(c)) due to the strong interaction between Pb and S, and the formation of Pb-S bonds in them is evidenced by the presence of the intense Raman peak around 136 cm À1 and 268 cm À1 . [39][40][41] Moreover, the intensity of these two characteristic Raman peaks in the S-doped AuPb aerogels (Fig. 6A(c)) is obviously weaker than those in the network of Au NCs connected by Pb 2+ ions (Fig.…”

“…Thus, the peak at 267 cm −1 is assigned to PbS molecules [ 56 , 57 ], the peak at 458 cm −1 is assigned to σ and δ(Si-O-Si) [ 58 ], and the peak at 564 cm −1 of high intensity is assigned to γ(Si-O-Si) [ 59 ]. Low-intensity peaks are noticed at 795 cm −1 , being assigned to σ sym (Si-O-Si) [ 60 ], σ(Si-O-R) and TEOS [ 61 ]; 871 cm −1 is assigned to σ(SiO 4 ) 4− [ 60 ], and 955 cm −1 is assigned to σ(Si-O − ) [ 59 ].…”

“…In the case of CdSe NPs coated on the WSe 2 sample, the peaks occur at 200 cm –1 (1LO) and 406 cm –1 (2LO) . In the PbS NP-coated sample, the spectrum exhibits peaks at 150 and 283 cm –1 , corresponding to the 1LO and 2LO phonon modes, respectively …”
