Zusammenfassung: Neuropsychologische Auswirkungen von epileptischen Erkrankungen werden bis heute sowohl von der klinischen wie auch wissenschaftlichen Neuropsychologie wenig beachtet und wenig Bedeutung beigemessen. Der folgende Artikel zeigt klinisch bedeutsame Aspekte dieser Erkrankung insbesondere im Kindesalter auf, die dringend einer differenzierteren neuropsychologischen Diagnostik und Therapie bedürfen. Interessante und innovative Perspektiven, die die Epileptologie für die Entwicklungsneuropsychologie anbieten kann, werden vorgestellt.
