Passenger Communication System for Next-Generation Self-Driving Cars: A Buddy

Abstract: With the rapid emergence of autonomous vehicles, there is a need to build such communication systems which help the passengers to communicate with autonomous vehicles (AVs) robustly. In this regard, this research work presents a multimodal passenger communication system. The communication system is known as "buddy" for AVs. Buddy is an all in one control system for AVs which incorporates touch, speech, text, and emotion recognition methods of interaction. Buddy makes it easy for passengers to interact with AVs… Show more

“…Moreover, researchers have not introduced agent-based modeling (ABM) for these steering control systems to validate the effects of the utilized optimization techniques in the parameter selection and fine-tuning process. Besides, the ABM-based validation methods can play a significant role in the modeling of the human driver behavior to prioritize the vehicle parameters following the real-time road conditions [8,10,[128][129][130][131][132][133]. In this regard, it would be interesting to introduce a validation mechanism for the optimization of steering control systems.…”
