Asimis… Show more

“…Bayesian econometrics use simulation methods to obtain the distribution of parameters with prior information, which allows asymptotic estimation without assumptions of central limit theorem and large sample size ( T → ∞ ) (see Geweke, 2005; Greenberg, 2009; Zellner, 1996). It is an advantage for Latin American data given that Alarco Tosoni (2014) can only obtain the annual functional distribution between 1960 and 2014 (55 observations).…”

“…Alarco Tosoni (2014) consolidates a database of the wage share (compensation to salaried workers as a percentage of GDP) and profit share (gross operating surplus) for 15 Latin American countries between 1950 and 2011. His main source of information is The Statistical Yearbook for Latin America and The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).…”

“…So far, estimations of inequality face the growing problem of underestimation in income data from national accounts (Alarcón Tosoni, ; Del Castillo, 2015), which puts in question research results based on the ENIGH's inequality data.…”

“…As Del Castillo Negrete () states, the underestimation of income has been growing since the 1990s, so the capitation of total household income has become more difficult. Estimations of inequality have shown the growing problem of underestimation in relation to income data from National Accounts (Alarcón Tosoni, ; Del Castillo, 2015). According to 2004 data from Del Castillo Negrete (), there was 2.5 times more underestimation of income reported in household surveys in 2004, versus national accounts.…”
