The Extractive Reserve (RESEX) was designed to protect rubber tapping communities and their livelihoods, thus guaranteeing environmental health. This study was carried out between 2021 and 2023 and aimed to propose a methodology based on the fuzzy logic method to assess the degree of sustainability in RESEXs in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. For this assessment, 10 indicators were used, represented through input variables in the fuzzy inference systems represented by the Environmental Subsystem (ES), Economic Subsystem (ECS), Social Subsystem (SS), and Institutional Subsystem (IS), with performances that converged so that the Sustainability System in the RESEX (SRE) system reached a performance value of 30.0, on a scale of 0 to 100, which translates into low sustainability in these spaces in the state of Amazonas. The methodology’s ability to represent the main phenomena that impact sustainability in the RESEX studied through linguistic variables and weight them in their complexities, as well as inferring a set of decision rules that reflect the knowledge of experts and which aim to quantitatively contextualise sustainability under uncertainty and imprecision in these areas, makes it a viable instrument to be applied and used by managers and decision-makers in the management of these spaces.

The present study took place in traditional coastal communities located around and within the Marine Extractive Reserves (RESEX-Mar) of Tracuateua and Araí-Peroba, Northeast of Pará, Brazilian Amazon, in the period between 2019 and 2020, involving thirty families, whose self-sustaining activities depend on family farming, artisanal fishing and crab fishing. The aimed objectives were to investigate the generational knowledges and how descendants learn about them, considering the environmental productive practices of such traditional communities, as well as to reflect on the ways the transmission processes occur to the following generations. The employed method involved a qualitative approach, with field observation and interview techniques. In data collection, the following instruments were used: a script with semi-structured questions to conduct the interviews and field notes taken during observation periods. Data analysis was based on the organization, tabulation and treatment of the linguistic terms collected from the interviews with the support of graphics generated by the IRAMUTEQ Software. Subsequently, content analysis was applied. The results showed there are riches constituted from the existing traditional knowledge, mainly in family farming and artisanal fishing (fish and crab), which are taught and transmitted by families to new generations. Conclusively, the research reveals that in the relationship between human beings and nature there are feelings of belonging perceived from the interviewees' identities, adding symbols and meanings, which are experienced and respected by all.

Este estudo analisa as formas de participação dos atores sociais na regulamentação dos instrumentos de gestão da Resex-Mar Mocapajuba, localizada no município de São Caetano de Odivelas, no nordeste paraense. Este estudo tem como abordagem a pesquisa qualitativa, realizada por meio da revisão bibliográfica e documental, pesquisa de campo, entrevista não-diretiva, aplicação de questionários semiestruturados e observação participante. Como resultado, verificou-se que a participação efetiva da sociedade civil é limitada por diversos fatores, com destaque para os relacionados à mobilidade, à comunicação, à desinformação, à mobilização e às relações de poder entre atores da cogestão do território, o que evidencia implicações nos processos de governança ambiental da Resex.
