“…Peran orangtua dalam membentuk perilaku anak peduli terhadap kebersihan lingkungan bukan hanya pada kebiasaan orang tua dalam menjaga kebersihan di rumah, melainkan bagaimana orang tua dapat memberikan penguatan seperti memberikan pujian saat anak berperilaku baik terhadap lingkungan dan secara terus menerus mengkomunikasikan pentingnya menjaga kebersihan lingkungan (Collado et al, 2017). Kesimpulan ini juga dikuatkan di dalam studi di Afrika Selatan, dimana kebiasaan orang tua di rumah dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan hanya memiliki dampak minimal terhadap kesadaran anak dalam berperilaku menyampah tanpa adanya reinforcement baik dalam bentuk pujian maupun hukuman (Matsekoleng, 2020). Seperti dalam studi ini, keterlibatan orang tua Siswa A, bukan hanya memberikan nasehat untuk menjaga kebersihan melainkan memberikan alternatif bagi Siswa A untuk membuang sampah di tempat seharusnya, cara ini lebih memiliki dampak kuat terhadap perilaku tidak menyampah Siswa A dibandingkan dengan Siswa C dan S. Hasil temuan ini juga memperlihatkan bahwa faktor lingkungan melalui modelling atau penerapan reward maupun punishment akan menjadi efektif jika dibarengi dengan faktor internal yaitu memberikan pengetahuan dan kesadaran pada anak secara terus menerus, sehingga anak dapat mengelola pengetahuannya di dalam membentuk perilaku.…”
