The fauna of aphid parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Aphidiinae), as well as their diversity and tritrophic (parasitoid-host aphid-host plant) associations in cultivated and non-cultivated areas of Markazi province, was studied during [2004][2005][2006][2007][2008][2009]. Thirty species of Aphidiinae belonging to 9 genera were identified. There are presented, in total, 73 associations with 32 host aphids occurring on 42 host plants. Five parasitoid-aphid associations are newly recorded from Iran. Lysiphlebus cardui (Marshall) is newly recorded for the fauna of Iran. Lysiphlebus fabarum (Marshall) and Diaeretiella rapae (M'Intosh) were the most abundant species in non-cultivated (72.96%) and cultivated (41.17%) areas, respectively. In the non-cultivated areas, L. fabarum was found on eight aphid species, while in cultivated areas it was only found on Aphis craccivora Koch. In cultivated areas, Sitobion avenae (F.) has the greatest diversity of parasitoids (Shanon-Weiner H = 0.875) whereas in non-cultivated areas the greatest diversity of parasitoids was recorded upon Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) (Shanon-Weiner H = 1.149). Significant differences were found between diversity of two ecosystems based on the overall diversity indices. Both species diversity and evenness were greater in cultivated ecosystems. The results are discussed in relation to the over-all parasitoid-aphid-plant associations in the area.

RESUMO -Objetivou-se com este trabalho estudar a dispersão espacial do pulgão preto (Aphis craccivora Koch), na cultura de feijão de corda (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) e estabelecer o número de amostras necessárias para a estimativa da população da praga para o uso em programas de Manejo Integrado de Pragas. Para isso, foram cultivados dois campos experimentais na Universidade Federal do Ceará, em Fortaleza. O primeiro campo tinha uma área de 216 m², composta de 15 parcelas. O segundo campo tinha uma área de 576 m² dividida em 25 parcelas. A cultivar utilizada foi a Vita 7 com plantas espaçadas em 0,25 m x 0,8 m. Foram realizadas seis coletas de dados em cada campo onde foram avaliadas dez plantas por parcela. Foi contado o número de colônias de pulgão presentes em toda a planta. Os resultados obtidos nos índices de agregação utilizados indicam que a dispersão do A. craccivora no campo é do tipo agregada o que foi confirmado pelo ajuste dos dados à distribuição de frequência Binomial Negativa. Quarenta e cinco é o número de amostras adequado para a estimativa da população de A. craccivora em campos de V. unguiculata para aplicação em programas de Manejo Integrado de Pragas. Manejo integrado de pragas.ABSTRACT -The objective of this work was to study the spatial dispersion of the cowpea aphid (Aphis craccivora Koch) in the cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) and to determine the sample size required to estimate the pest population, for use in Integrated Pest Management programs. In order to do this, two field experiments were carried out at the Federal University of Ceará in Fortaleza, Brazil. The first with an area of 216 m², consisting of 15 plots. The second with an area of 576 m² divided into 25 plots. The cultivar "Vita 7" was used, with plants spaced 0.25 m x 0.8 m apart. Data were collected six times for each experiment, when ten plants per plot were evaluated. The total of aphid colonies present was counted for each plant. The results obtained from the clustering indices which were employed indicate that dispersion of A. craccivora in the field is of the aggregate type, which was confirmed by fitting the data to the negative binomial distribution of frequency. Forty-five is a suitable number of samples in the estimation of the population of A. craccivora in fields planted with V. Unguiculata, for use in integrated pest management programs.

Resumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a divergência genética entre genótipos de feijão-de-corda quanto à resistência ao pulgão-preto (Aphis craccivora) e identificar as melhores combinações entre genótipos resistentes. Utilizou-se o delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com 51 tratamentos, representados pelos genótipos, e quatro repetições. As plantas foram infestadas 15 dias após a semeadura, com cinco fêmeas adultas. Avaliaram-se o número de adultos e de ninfas, respectivamente aos dois e quatro dias após a infestação, e a relação entre eles. O índice de soma de postos de Mulamba & Mock, as distâncias generalizadas de Mahalanobis e o método de otimização de Tocher foram utilizados para avaliar a divergência genética entre os genótipos. As maiores divergências foram observadas entre os genótipos BRS Guariba e Sete Semanas, e entre TVu 410 e Sete Semanas, enquanto BRS Guariba e TVu 410 foram os mais similares. Os genótipos BRS Guariba, TVu 410, BRS Paraguaçu, TVu 36, Sempre Verde, TVu 408 P 2 , Setentão e Epace 10 apresentam resistência ao pulgão. Os cruzamentos entre Setentão e BRS Guariba, TVu 410, BRS Paraguaçu, TVu 36, TVu 408 P 2 e entre Epace 10 e Sempre Verde, BRS Guariba e TVu 410 são promissores para novas combinações genéticas em programas de melhoramento com vistas à resistência ao pulgão.Termos para indexação: Aphis craccivora, Vigna unguiculata, análise multivariada, resistência genética. Genetic divergence of cowpea genotypes for resistance to black aphidAbstract -The objective of this work was to evaluate the genetic divergence among cowpea genotypes as to resistance to black aphid (Aphis craccivora), and to identify the best combinations between resistant genotypes. The experimental design was a randomized complete blocks with 51 treatments, represented by genotypes, and four replicates. Plants were infested 15 days after sowing, with five female adults. The number of adults and nymphs, at two and four days after infestation, respectively, and the relationship between them were evaluated. Mulamba & Mock's sum of ranks index, Mahalanobis' generalized distances, and Tocher's optimization method were used to assess the genetic distance among genotypes. The largest differences were observed between the genotypes BRS Guariba and Sete Semanas, and between TVu 410 and Sete Semanas, whereas BRS Guariba and TVu 410 were the most similar. The genotypes BRS Guariba, TVu 410, BRS Paraguaçu, TVu 36, Sempre Verde, TVu 408 P 2 , Setentão, and Epace 10 show resistance to black aphid. Crossings between Setentão and BRS Guariba, TVu 410, BRS Paraguaçu, TVu 36, TVu 408 P 2 , and between Epace 10 and Sempre Verde, BRS Guariba and TVu 410 are promising for new genetic combinations in breeding programs to improve resistance to black aphid.Index terms: Aphis craccivora, Vigna unguiculata, multivariate analysis, genetic resistance.
