Parameters of Soybean Cultivated in Succession With Intercropping System of Out-of-Season Corn With Green Manure

Abstract: Most Brazilian soils have low organic matter content, and the current management systems used in agriculture contribute to worsening this situation. The introduction of practices that lead to the increase of soil organic matter becomes more necessary for agrosystems to be sustainable, ensuring high yields because only then the production chain becomes profitable and enables agricultural production. The present work aimed to investigate the effect of intercropping practices among corn crop with different green … Show more

“…All the treatments can significantly improve the plant height of corn (Figure 8). Application of green manure together with out-of-season corn crop promoted the highest plant height and soybean yield-related traits in succession (Genovesi et al, 2019). The fresh weight of corn could be increased by different milk vetch proportion treatments, and the change level reached a significant level at 1:100 ratio treatment.…”

“…Green manure is a sustainable agronomic practice based on growing a crop, usually a legume, specifically to supply residual cover on the soil surface for subsequent crops (Diacono et al 2019). This management has been successfully used in tropical soils due to increased organic matter incorporated and allows higher yields for corn, sugarcane and soybean, for example (Genovesi et al 2019;Oliveira et al 2018). Moreover, the large-scale production of green manure triggers several advantages granted to small-scale farmers for the marketable products exported as grains or fodder, which varies according to different species of precultivated legume (Oliveira et al 2018).…”
