Parallel Kinetic Resolution through Palladium-Catalyzed Enantioselective Cycloimidoylation: En Route to Divergent N-Heterocycles Bearing a Quaternary Stereogenic Center

Abstract: An example of a parallel kinetic resolution catalyzed by palladium to produce enantioenriched five-and six-membered N-heterocycles in one pot was developed. Dihydroisoquinolines and 1H-isoindoles containing a quaternary stereogenic center were obtained from racemic isocyanides in high yields with good enantioselectivities under mild conditions. A 6,6′-dipropyl substituted SPINOL-derived phosphoramidite was used as the chiral ligand for the palladium catalyst, resulting in regiodivergent and stereospecific cycl… Show more

“…5,6 Particularly, five-and six-membered N-heterocycles are notable for their structural diversity and associated applications. 7,8 Despite their significance, many existing synthesis methods for these N-heterocycles rely on transition metal catalysis, 6−8 presenting economic, environmental, and operational challenges. Consequently, sustainable, transitionmetal-free synthesis methodologies have emerged.…”

“…Therefore, in sharp contrast to the traditional resolution, much less successful examples have been reported on PKR. 15 Most of the studies developed so far in this field involve metal catalysis, 16 whilst examples of catalytic PKRs in enantioselective organocatalysis are, however, very limited. 10,17…”
