A. trapezia is common on intertidal mudflats in southeast Australia and is strongly associated with the presence of seagrasses (Inglis 1992;Murray-Wallace et al 2000;Sullivan 1961). In particular, elements of a warmer water fauna appear in the estuarine and peritidal facies of southern Australia and include Anadara trapezia and the megascopic foraminifer Marginopora vertebralis (Cann and Clarke, 1993;Murray-Wallace et al, 2000). The absence of these species in much of southern and Western Australia in the present, Holocene interglacial has been attributed to a significant reduction in estuarine environments resulting from reduced freshwater input to estuaries.…”
