Package Dyeing of Acrylic Fibre Yarn: Important Parameters which Influence Level Dyeing

Abstract: Flow rate, ramp (constant rate of temperature rise), and package density are recognized to be particularly important for obtaining uniform uptake in the package dyeing of acrylic fibre yarns. This paper is concerned with the contribution of these three parameters to levelness in this system. An attempt is made to define empirical mathematical relationships between these variables and the observed rate of dyeing, in order to be able to specify those values of these parameters which would be expected to give ris… Show more

“…In the package dyeing of acrylic yarns, there is a close relationship between package density, the flow rate of the liquor in the dyeing machine and the ramp (constant rate of temperature rise). These factors, together with other important parameters that influence level dyeing of acrylic yarn, were investigated [22]. This was a very comprehensive study because of the availability of a single‐package dyeing machine with accurately controllable flow rates, the ability to prepare parallel‐sided dye packs to a high level of consistency and accuracy, together with the ability to scale up results from the single‐package machine to bulk.…”
