P‐213: Simulation of Color Moiré Pattern in LCD‐based Metal Mesh Touch Screen

Abstract: When a piece of LCD with CF period 77.51mm by 227.0um is laminated with a metal mesh touch screen whose period is 160.0um, discernable color moiré pattern occurs. It inflicts negative impact on the visual quality of touch products. This paper discusses the mechanism of the interference and also develops an effective model By means of simulation, the model and hence the mechanism is verified. It reveals that if proper mesh period and the gap between LCD and metal mesh are selected, color moiré pattern can be el… Show more

“…In recent years, with the development of display technology and the popularity of intelligent terminals, the skills of touch screen production is extremely important. Due to the high cost and non‐renewable of traditional indium tin oxide (ITO) materials, the current sensor materials for touch screen are mainly replaced by metal mesh 1 . However, the superposition of metal mesh touch panel and LCD will bring moire pattern to the touch screen, which will degrade the display quality if the pitch of the moire pattern is below the limit of the eye resolution and the contrast is sufficiently high 2 .…”

“…Thus, it is difficult to directly apply this technique to supply a non-zero predetermined charge. The last technique involves improving the sensor electrode of the TSP itself using mesh-shaped metal electrodes instead of conventional face-shaped indium-tin-oxide (ITO) transparent electrodes [ 3 ]. The mesh-shape of the sensor electrode can reduce the coupling capacitance between the sensor and display electrodes, and its low resistance can compensate for the effect of the increased capacitance in terms of the bandwidth of the LPF.…”
