Oxidation of a One‐Dimensional Coordination Polymer and Synthesis of the Macrocyclic Silver Complex [Ag12(PhS2P−PS2Ph)6(dppeS)6]

Abstract: The cluster chemistry with functionalised trimethylsilyl reagents was investigated. The oxidation of the one-dimensional coordination polymer 1/ ϱ [{Ag 2 (PhS 2 P−PS 2 Ph)-dppe}·dppe] ϱ leads to the formation of [Ag 12 (PhS 2 -P−PS 2 Ph) 6 (dppeS) 6 ] (dppeS = Ph 2 P(CH 2 ) 2 P(S)Ph 2 ]. The dian-

“…27 Similar reactions were observed for trithiophosphonates. 28 In order to study the cleavage of the disulfide bridge in [(PhAs) 2 (l-S 2 )(l-S)] and to understand the role of the anions in Cu(I) thiolates, several reactions of [(PhAs) 2 (l-S 2 )(l-S)] with tertiary phosphines and a range of Cu(I) thiolates were performed. In the case of a mixture of [(PhAs) 2 (l-S 2 )(l-S)], CuSEt and PPh 3 this resulted in the formation of crystals of [Cu 4 {Ph(S)As-S-As(S)Ph} 2 (PPh 3 ) 4 ] (2) (Scheme 3, Fig.…”

“…From earlier experiments it is known however, that phosphines play a crucial role in this type of reactions and do not solely act as donor molecules to the coinage metal. 38, 39 The main role of the phosphines in the reactions in Scheme 2 is the deselenisation of the starting material. Tertiary phosphines PR 3 are oxidised to R 3 P(Se) and arsenic-containing intermediates will act as ligands to metals present in the reaction.…”
