Method: this transversal study It includes home and hospital births (212). Descriptive analysis was undertaken, with CI 95%, using the SAS/9.1.3 software.Results: the rate of amniotomy was 9.9% (CI 95% 5.9-13.9), of episiotomy was 0.5% (CI 95% 0.5-1.5), the amniotic fluid remained clear in 95.2% , there was no change in fetal heartbeat in 94.3% ). The vaginal tears perineal trauma were exclusively of first degree (64.7%; CI 95% 57.8-71.6) and second degree (7.0%; CI 95% 3.4-10.8), it being the case that almost half did not need suturing (46.8%; CI 95% 41.1-52.6). The rate of transfer to hospital was 7.4%, all these cases occurring during labor (CI 95% 3.8 -11.0). The rate of cesareans in the sample was 9.9%. Método: estudo transversal. Foram incluídos os partos ocorridos no domicílio e no hospital (212), no referido período. Foi realizada análise descritiva com IC a 95%, no SAS/9.1.3. Conclusions RESULTADOS MATERNOS DOS PARTOS DOMICILIARES PLANEJADOS ASSISTIDOS POR ENFERMEIRAS DA EQUIPE HANAMI NO SUL DOResultados: a taxa de amniotomia foi 9,9% (IC 95% 5,9-13,9), de episiotomia 0,5% (IC95% 0,5-1,5), o líquido amniótico permaneceu claro em 95,2% (IC95% 92,4-98), não houve alteração dos batimentos cardíacos fetais em 94,3% (IC95% 92-96,6). As lacerações vaginais foram exclusivamente de primeiro grau (64,7%; IC95% 57,8-71,6) e de segundo grau (7,0%; IC95% 3,4-10,8), sendo que praticamente a metade não necessitou de sutura (46,8%; IC95% 41,1-52,6). A taxa de transferência foi de 7,4%, sendo todas durante o trabalho de parto (IC95% 3,8-11,0). A taxa de cesárea da amostra foi 9,9%.Conclusão: as mulheres assistidas no domicílio são submetidas a poucas intervenções. As intercorrências e transferências obstétricas são baixas. Multiparous women's confidence to have a publicly-funded homebirth: A qualitative study

Background: Hospital birth is commonly thought to be a safer option than homebirth, despite many studies showing similar rates of safety for low risk mothers and babies. Recently in Australia, demand has led to the introduction of a small number of publicly-funded homebirth programs. These offer homebirth to selected women who previously would not have considered this option. Women's confidence in having a homebirth through a publicly-funded homebirth program in Australia has not yet been explored. Aim: The aim of the study was to explore the reasons why women feel confident to have a homebirth within a publicly-funded model of care in Australia. Methods: Ten multiparous English-speaking women who chose to have a homebirth with the St George Hospital Homebirth Program were interviewed using semistructured, open-ended questions. A thematic analysis of transcriptions was undertaken. Data were part of a wider set collected as part of a doctoral study. Results: Women demonstrated a strong confidence in their ability to give birth at home and described a confidence in their bodies, their midwives, and the health system. Women weighed up the risks of homebirth through information they gathered and integration with their previous experience of birth, their family support and selfconfidence. Discussion: The publicly-funded hospital homebirth program strengthened the confidence of women to choose this model of care. Conclusion: Women choosing publicly-funded homebirth display strong confidence in both themselves to give birth at home, and their belief in the health system's ability to cope with any complications that may arise.

The Journal focuses on midwifery issues and women's health, it has a readership of midwives and others involved in pregnancy and childbearing, both in New Zealand and overseas.The Journal is printed once each year (December) and uses electronic article based publishing so that papers are published and disseminated as soon as possible. The advantages of article based publishing are:• Articles are processed more quickly • Articles can be disseminated electronically making them readily available• Improved ability to cite immediately without the need to wait until an issue is complete and then printed.• Improved global availability as each paper is provided with a DOI and put onto the NZCOM Journal website 3 months after first circulation Within electronic article based publishing the editors build each issue as an "issue in progress" from papers that have been submitted and accepted for publication. Once an issue is complete it is printed.The Journal welcomes original research, literature reviews; exemplars/practice stories/case studies, audits, student, and research methodology articles. In general, articles should be between 500-4000 words. It is important that articles submitted for review, have not been published previously in any form.The expectation regarding publication of any of these items is that they protect confidentiality where necessary, and that evidence of an ethical process of consent has been undertaken; similarly, confirmation that copyright permission has been obtained for any quoted materials (see section on copyright).
