“… 12 , 24 Recent studies documented the 1-year mortality rate of hip fractures in the nearby Arab countries (such as Saudi Arabia and Lebanon); it is ranging from 10 to 25%. 16 , 17 , 19 , 25 , 26 Our findings showed a 12.8% 1-year mortality rate, which is at the lower limit of the rates of nearby Arab countries.…”

“…Barake et al 17 reported that the mean age for hip fracture patients from Arab countries is 74.2 years with more than 50% of patients being female. Our results were consistent with these trends; as the mean age for our population was 75 years and 53.7% were females.…”

“…In the traditional fluoroscopy-guided puncture, the puncture point and angle are often difficult to control, which easily leads to the end of the working sleeve not reaching the ideal position, resulting in uneven bone cement distribution. 17 When designing the puncture path before the operation, the puncture angle can be appropriately increased, and the puncture needle can be guided to penetrate the vertebral body one time by DSA three-dimensional scanning during operation so that the end of the working channel is as close as possible to the middle line of the vertebral body. 18 The results demonstrated that the puncture angle of the DSA-guided group was significantly larger than that of the traditional fluoroscopy group, which may be one of the reasons for the more uniform distribution of bone cement in DSA guided group.…”

“…It is worth noting that the actual incidence of vertebral fractures is likely to be higher, as they are often asymptomatic, they can therefore be missed from diagnosis, although recent techniques can improve detection [ 36 , 37 ]. The majority of other studies reporting the incidence of hip and vertebral fractures have been conducted in women, using convenience, and not population-based samples [ 38 ], and with case finding in secondary care [ 38 , 39 ] or via surveys [ 40 ]. The incidence of hip fractures has been found to be lower in Eastern countries [ 38 , 39 , 41 43 ], whereas it has been reported to be higher in Northern Europe [ 6 , 37 , 44 ].…”
