“…Among all bone grafts, cerabone ® was selected as biomaterial in the control group. Cerabone ® has been well studied to date in both preclinical animal studies [ 50 , 51 , 52 , 53 , 54 , 55 , 56 ] and human clinical trials [ 57 , 58 , 59 ]. Socket preservation using cerabone ® has proven to be a reliable method to minimize the loss of bone volume at the extraction site [ 57 ].…”

“…A further contributing factor to comparable BIC between the test and control implants could be related to the SLActive surface used in both groups. SLActive is reported to speed up the early osseointegration phase [ 24 ], perhaps enabling the test implant, regardless of the gap between the osteotomy and implant core, to promote rapid bone formation. While it was not the subject of the present study, one can imagine that the two phenomena (bone chip creation around the implant and the SLActive surface) worked in synergy to result in comparable BIC measures between the test and control implants at the given time points.…”

“…El Chaar et al performed a similar study to the present one but filled the defect with two different bone substitute materials and did not have a BC group. The authors suggest that the presence of bone substitute material may facilitate BC stabilization and support the osteoprogenitor cells invasion and access to the implant surface.…”

“…pared without bone substitute material in the early time period. Furthermore, there are no statistical significant differences regarding the presence of bone matrix cells.El Chaar et al24 performed a similar study to the present one but filled the defect with two different bone substitute materials and did not have a BC group. The authors suggest that the presence of bone substitute material may facilitate BC stabilization and support the osteoprogenitor cells invasion and access to the implant surface.…”
