Bu araştırmada, ortaokul öğrencilerinin ters yüz edilmiş matematik sınıflarına hazırbulunuşluk düzeylerini ve öz düzenleyici öğrenme beceri düzeylerini belirlemek ve cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, internet erişimi değişkenleri açısından araştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada son olarak, öğrencilerin matematik dersindeki öz düzenleyici öğrenme beceri düzeyleri ile ters yüz edilmiş matematik sınıflarına hazırbulunuşluk düzeyleri arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Araştırma betimsel tarama modeli ve ilişkisel tarama modellerinden nedensel karşılaştırma ve korelasyonel yaklaşım ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırma, 328 ortaokul öğrencisinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri, Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Ters Yüz Öğrenme Hazırbulunuşluk Ölçeği ve Matematikte Öz Düzenleyici Öğrenme Stratejileri Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin hem ters yüz edilmiş matematik sınıflarına hazırbulunuşluk düzeylerinin “iyi” hem de öz düzenleyici öğrenme beceri düzeylerinin iyi düzeyde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada, hazırbulunuşluk düzeyi için cinsiyet değişkenine göre istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılaşma göstermezken sınıf düzeyi ve internet erişimi değişkenlerine göre anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin matematik dersindeki öz düzenleyici öğrenme beceri düzeyleri için ise cinsiyet değişkeni ve internet erişimi değişkenleri açısından istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği ve sınıf düzeyi değişkeni açısından istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık gösterdiği gözlemlenmiştir. Ayrıca ortaokul öğrencilerinin, matematik dersindeki öz düzenleyici öğrenme beceri düzeyleri ile ters yüz edilmiş matematik sınıflarına hazırbulunuşluk düzeyleri arasında istatistiksel olarak “yüksek” düzeyde ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

The current study determined the impact of the Argumentation-Flipped Learning (AFL) Model on the scientific process skills and academic achievement of students by performing a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest and retention control group design. The data were collected by scientific process skills test and concept test from a total of 112 5th grade students randomly selected from a public school in the 2017-2018 academic year. In the curriculum, Experimental group-I and Experimental group-II students were taught the lesson by argumentation-flipped learning model and Flipped Teaching Method (FTM), respectively. The lessons in the control group were taught by the method where the teacher was the narrator. The information and the activities in the curriculum were presented directly. The study was applied in the “Matter and Change” unit. The data of the study were collected by scientific process skills and academic achievement test. SPSS 22.0 package program was used to analyze the data obtained from the study. Shapiro-Wilk Distribution Test and descriptive statistics were used to determine whether the data showed normal distribution. Furthermore, Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used. According to the study’s results, it was determined that the methods applied to the groups did not make a significant difference in the levels of scientific process or in student’s academic success.

The present study aims to examine the effect of the flipped classroom model on the academic achievement and critical-analytic thinking skills of students from different socio-economic backgrounds. For this purpose, two schools in the same province, attended by children from families with varying socio-economic levels, were included in the study. The study sample consisted of a total of 82 students: 30 from a secondary school with students from a low socio-economic background and 52 from another secondary school with students from a high socio-economic background in the 2021-2022 academic year. The study was designed based on the quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control groups. Experimental and control groups consisting of one class each, and four classes in total, were selected from the schools using the random assignment method. The total application period was 9 weeks while the duration of the experimental applications was 7 weeks (28 class hours). In the present study utilizing Edpuzzle, an online platform, interactive videos were developed in accordance with the learning outcomes of the course. Data were collected using the 25-item “Sun, Earth and Moon Achievement Test” applied to determine the learning levels of the students and the 72-item “Cornell Conditional Reasoning Test” applied to measure critical-analytic thinking skills. In conclusion, it was revealed that although there was no significant change in critical-analytic thinking skills, the flipped classroom model provided a significant increase in the academic achievement and critical-analytic thinking skills of students from both socio-economic backgrounds.
