Organochlorine pesticides in the frograna ridibundafrom the fresh waters of northern Greece

Abstract: In this paper, the concentration of some organochlorine pesticides in the frog Rana ridibunda was investigated. The most abundant compound was DDE. The concentrations of pesticides detected in this study are low, probably because of their ban some 22 years ago. DDT, DDD and Aldrin have not been detected, most probably because of their degradation to more stable metabolites. Lindane has also not been detected, likely because of its rapid decomposition.
