Organization and chromosomal localization of the gene for the human bombesin receptor subtype expressed in pregnant uterus

Abstract: The gene encoding the human homologue of the guinea pig uterine bombesm receptor [( 1992) Eur. J. Biochem. 208,405] was isolated from a genomic lambda library by the PCR/homology screening approach. The gene spans more than 4 kb and consists of 3 exons and 2 introns. The deduced amino acid sequence shows about 86% identity to that of guinea pig bombesin receptor. This subtype of bombesin receptor is expressed in the pregnant uterus and in two human tumour cell lines, T47D (ductal breast carcinoma) and A431 (e… Show more

“…The human BB 3 receptor gene is localized at human chromosome Xq25 and in the mouse on chromosome XA7.1-7.2 (Fathi et al, 1993b;Gorbulev et al, 1994;Weber et al, 1998). The human BB 3 receptor gene (Fathi et al, 1993b;Gorbulev et al, 1994;Weber et al, 1998) contained two introns and three exons similar to the sheep (Whitley et al, 1999), rhesus (Sano et al, 2004), mouse (Ohki-Hamazaki et al, 1997a), and rat BB 3 receptor genes (Liu et al, 2002).…”

In the mouse the BB 3 receptor gene spanned more than 5 kb with exon 1 of the BB 3 gene separated from exon 2 by 1.6 kb and this in turn separated from exon 3 by 1.6 kb .…”

“…Bombesin receptor subtype 3 (BRS-3) mRNA has been detected using reverse transcription PCR in the pregnant myometrium of guinea pigs (Gorbulev et al 1992) and women (Fathi et al 1993, Gorbulev et al 1994 but not in the non-pregnant myometrium of these species. Our own studies found BRS-3 mRNA to be expressed in the pregnant endometrium, myometrium, amnion, chorion and placenta isolated from three women at term delivery by caesarean section .…”
