Organic Rankine Cycle Power Systems : A Review

Abstract: The cumulative global capacity of organic Rankine cycle (ORC) power systems for the conversion of renewable and waste thermal energy is undergoing a rapid growth, and is estimated to be approx. 2, 000 MW e considering only installations that went into operation after 1995. The potential for the conversion into electricity of the thermal power coming from liquid-dominated geothermal reservoirs, waste heat from primary engines or industrial processes, biomass combustion, and concentrated solar radiation is argua… Show more

“…Nowadays, with the increasing attentions on environmental protection, many researches related to new environment-friendly technologies and substances have been carried out, such as organic Rankine cycle [1], absorption refrigeration [2], concentrated solar power syngas production [3], supercritical water gasification [4], ionic liquid [5], new refrigerant [6] and especially, oxygenated fuel [7]. The oxygenated fuel compounds are oxygen-containing hydrocarbons which are either naturally presented in fuels or used as additives to improve certain properties of interest.…”
